Hi,

I am new to this site, but will be checking in every day as this whole topic of visas in the US is a nightmare! I am from England who has recently graduated and looking to move to New York genuinely for my girl friend and to work in this great city.

I apologise in advance if I am asking questions that have been repeatedly asked by others.

My situation: I am on a J1 student visa currently which is valid til October the 10th but wanting to work in the States permanently.

My Issue: I am looking at options of staying including marrying my American gf who I have been with for over a year, but also the possibility of sponsorship ar the PR firm I work for. I don't know any other options (can my J1 visa be extended?)

My question: How long and how much does it cost to process a sponsorship visa with my employee. I am thinking this is the best option for me, but I need to be aware of how long it will take to process, if I have to be in my country of Origin (England) and how much does it cost?

Any help would be more than grateful!

Also I am struggling to wave through so much visa jargon, so any links to the relevant information would be brilliant!!!

Thanks Guys!!!

Shea,

NYC (currently)

For an employment visa, temporary, you do not do very much, your Employer does, also Employer pays, so win win.

You would need to go to the interview in London, which may be a cost.

I have my return ticket back to London already (part of the deal with a J1 visa), so thats not too much of an issue.

Do you know roughly how much the company has to pay out for me to work for them? Or know a website that would say all this!?

Thanks mate!

It depends, probably less than $10k, legal fees is the big variable.
