So we just got and email that says our NOA2 is on the mail.So I have a couple of ?s

- I was wondering how long does it takes to get by mail?

- On this email we saw a Referral ID number, does any of you know what is this?

- How long does it takes to the NVC to get the approval?

And why does the case status in the USCIS website is still on Initial Review, could it be a mistake?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Dsgirl,

First of all congrats on making it this far through the process! I know from reading around the forums that some cases on the USCIS website never get status updated out of "initial review" so I wouldn't worry about that. As for the others, I'm not sure. You could probably do some searching of the forums to find some answers or likely another more knowledgeable member will come along after me to answer your questions!

Good luck!

Congrats!!! This is an exciting time. I believe my NOA2 arrived less than 1 week after I was notified by text/email. It will come fast, don't worry.

There is no Referral number, I think you may be talking about Receipt Number. This number is important so don't misplace it. You will need it to check your case status (just in case you need to call USCIS or NVC).

Your case will be sent to NVC immediately for processing and packaging, then forwarded to the U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo. The next few weeks to the next month or so, you will be just "waiting" to hear and receive information. In this time, begin preparing your documents for interview and its very important you familiarize yourself with the next steps of the process. I wish you the best, if you have nay questions just ask members here.

By the way you are done with USCIS for now, so the updates will no come anymore until post-marriage in the U.S. Feel free to check my timeline and others in similar situations as you.
