I have posted this in the July Interviews section, but thought I would make it widely available to the public haha

My interview wasn't til 9am. I got there at 7am anyway to clear my head, grab a hot chocolate and a bite to eat. I made my way up to the US consulate at 7:30am and all the old memories came back to my previous visa application when I was working on a cruise ship.

To my surprise, I wasn't the first in line. There were about 4 or 5 people ahead of me. However, once we got into the interview area itself, I got ticket #003.

It wasn't long until my number was flashing on the screen and I approached the desk, dropping half of my ####### along the way, and was greeted by a friendly English chap. We got straight to business by handing in the interview letter, and he immediately pressed me for the documents required to finish the gastly RFE (Requiring Further Evidence). With great pleasure, I offloaded my police certificate and a bundle of my wife's and mother-in-law's IRS transcripts. He then asked me for my Medical... Uhhhh... :help:

"What? No, I had my medical last week, they posted it into here. All I have are my chest x-rays."

"That's fine", he said, "Would you mind getting X Y Z documents ready and I'll go look for your medical"

A few minutes passed and he returned to inform me that the medical had not yet arrived, and if the visa is approved, it won't be issued until the medical is received... My heart sunk. I was told to go sit down and wait for the interviewer to call me up. About 5 minutes passed and I heard my name "Michael to counter 7". Awesome!

I got up there, fumbling all my neatly piled evidence again, and greeted the young lady behind the desk grasping her "TEXAS" Coffee mug on this cold winter morning. Nothing else was said as she flipped through a bundle of the papers that looked oh too familiar. She dated, and signed a bunch, then asked me a few questions:

1. Where did you meet your Wife, here or America?

2. Did you get married here?

3. Was it in a temple? (I believe she, too, was a Latter-Day Saint, but I did not ask).

4. Are you going to be sealed in a temple?

5. When did you join the Church?

6. When was the last time you physically saw your wife? (I have only just returned from a 2 month stay in the US with her)

7. Has your Wife ever lived out here?

8. How long was she here for?

9. What does your Wife do for work?

10. Do you send her money?

11. How do you stay in touch?

12. Do you have any more recent evidence of your relationship? (I fumbled through more evidence and pulled out a few thin folders containing boarding passes, rental tenance agreements, joint bank accounts, etc.. I went to give her some more and she put her hand up to say "that's fine" I laughed a little. She laughed.)

She said "Well, thats it. Permitting we get your medical soon, we can begin processing your visa. "

"I had my medical last week, they said they would send it. If you receive it today or tomorrow, will I get notification that it has been received?"

"No", she said. Which was wierd because I didn't want to be at home stressing over whether it got there or not.

I thanked her a million times and a few tears fought through my eyes. Bastards! haha

I had my medical just down the street, so I went back to them to see what was happening. They jumped on the internet to see what was going on with the tracking and it was last updated at midnight last night, saying it was being processed. I got the receptionist to print that out, as well as another copy of the medical and went back to the consulate. I was in an out in about 5 minutes the second time which was good as I just dropped off the medical and explained they should get the other copy today or tomorrow.

I got home and called Australia Post. They said it would be delivered today.

Somewhere in between all the mess, my Wife called me and I told her the great news. We both shared our excitement over the phone and I had to let her go as she was in rehearsals for her upcoming show.

All in all... VISA APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
