Yes. CNN first hired Beck and Dobbs unaware that they weren't tooting the horn of bleeding heart liberalism, but it took them awhile to finally realize they were batting for the other team.

Well, at least you admit that CNN not only takes sides, but that it sees itself as adversarial with those not on their side. Is that acceptable journalism, in your opinion?

That a badly edited video about comments made by a USDA employee could not only be posted as "news" but also under the justification that it's reasonable retaliation for supposed accusations made about the Tea Party movement, says to me that virtually the entirety of the mass media in the US is adversarial and propagandist.#

Liberal media? That's the least of the media's problems.

Arguing which outlet is the best is not unlike arguing about what variety of sh!t you like to eat.

I would have liked to have read more posts like this when Rush Limbaugh, a favorite whipping boy of the Left, was being villified and smeared with vicious lies, half-truths and edited audio not long ago when he was part of a group trying to buy a football franchise. His situation is SO appropriately analygous to Shirley Sherrod's as to be made for it.

Rush was branded a racist, pilloried in several liberal press venues, and the consortium he was with pressured mercilously to drop him from their bid. It wasn't until he was dropped that media sources admitted that they had make up the accusations against him to get the results they wanted. But, hey, liberal media hates Rush, so he deserved what he got. No harm, no foul.

I didn't see much disgust over that blatant display of agenda driven reporting abd neglect for the truth then, but it's been that way for the Right for decades. The Left just got a taste of it this week. If you don't like bad media, work to change it. Don't just enjoy it when it benefits your side.

The divide and conquer mentality just seems an inadequate reply. In essence, it justifies the actions of this Breitbart character.

Besides, I don't have to "work to change the US media". That isn't my responsibility - it's the responsibility of US Citizens. Unfortunately it seems not only do many people not really care about the quality of their media, they actively support it. It seems people need the media to be an extension of their own insular, partisan attitudes and they find it very difficult to perceive the world in any other way.

You yourself have just proven this - you can't take a general comment on its merits, instead you have to shoehorn it into the adversarial outlook that abounds among a lot of USCs.

The British media has its problems, but at least it doesn't divide the population against itself with emotionalism and cheap propaganda.

It must be terribly exhausting taking all these hacks so seriously and cheer-leading for your 'side' all the time.

Political ads are just irritating and they go on for months. If I was able to vote in the Gov elections this year I would vote Meg Whitman, but not based on her or Brown's ads for that matter, none of the ads tell me anything useful at all - they are just cheap accusations.

Yes, and faster than you can find your azz in the dark with both hands.

Americans who 'don't care about the rest of the world' are the ones that give Americans a bad name all over the world as in the Marlon Brando film 'the ugly American'

In that context they are anti- America's interests, because the world's view of America does matter to America in many ways.

Geography is a good place to start.

That may be so, but has nothing at all to do with me. You have no reason to believe it does.

What I noticed living in the US, is that it can be an extremely insular country at times. It's only in the big cities that you find people with a world view that goes beyond their back yard, but even so I think you can get a flavour of the sorts of attitudes that abound (generally) by looking at American media outlets. Without exception (except for NPR and C-Span's coverage of the House of Representatives and the Senate), the entirety of the broadcast media is propagandist. The mainstream outlets frame stories in a way that only appeals to partisans, riddled with emotional invective that tells people how they should feel about a given story. It's shameful really.

As for the various news commentary shows - Glen Becks and Rush Limbaughs etc. their popularity says it all. Not one of them is worth the price of admission, except perhaps for those who would otherwise only find release through a heavy addiction to barbiturate tranquilisers.

The same is true of the British press. I find it to be predominately left-leaning propagandist and very much like NPR in the US.

My 5 year mission is to seek out strange new worlds and 'civilizations' and get em to stop saying 'drug' when they mean 'dragged'

That's because you don't read any of them or know anything about it, like Palin you hare sampled 'all of them' (None) - it's not all left leaning propoganda, although each newspaper has its hacks to be sure, but we do know for each paper where the bias lies, even the most uneducated know which paper leans which way. Also, in the UK we the public lampoon and satirize all our politicians equally and frequently, not just the ones we don't like because they don't represent 'our' side.

Well if it's reported that the cop pushed him off the bar stool and 'drug' him out of the door, I find that I get two red rashes - one above each eyebrow. It starts itching after a while even if I don't scratch it.

If I am listening to CNBC Europe and some Brit says the market was 'dragged' down by retail sales, my whole body glows with pleasure and I feel as great as Tony the Tiger

Just say no to 'drug'

Why do you say I would love the BNP ?

As I understand it, it's a racist political party.

What is it about TOS you don't understand ?
