My Husband and I will be starting our DCF process soon and was wondering if Ankara allows the spouse (American Sponsor)to be present during the Interview. I have read conflicting answers BUT I read on the instructions for Ankara that BOTH the Sponsor and the Foreign Spouse be present during the Interview. Does anyone out there have first hand knowledge SPECIFIC to Ankara and the DCF Process.

INTERVIEW DATE 03/08/2011 @ 8:30 am !!!

2011-03-08: Placed in AP

Apologies if I state in a comment that my husband and I have been together for years & years. It's just that I can hardly remember a time when he and I were not together.

I have info specific to Ankara, but not DCF. I was allowed to go with my then fiance and I believe it is arbitrary (meaning it is dependent on the person at the gates mood) To prevent this for myself, I emailed Ankara specifically asking for permission to go inside with my fiance and printed that and took it with me. I didn't need to show it to them, but afterwards I told others' to do this here on VJ and it has helped 2 other people get in who without that email would have been out of luck waiting outside. Good luck!

Yes, you will be able to be there. You might not be interviewed with him though!

DCF - I-130

4/10/08 - Married in Istanbul!

5/14/08 - Sent I-130 to Ankara via UPS

5/15/08 - Packet arrived in Ankara at US Embassy

6/2/08 - Received email from Embassy, our interview is schedule for 8/11/08

8/11/08 - Interview at US Embassy in Ankara, I-130 APPROVED!!!!!!

8/13/08 - Visa RECEIVED.....

11/7/08 - Flew from Istanbul to Denver (via JFK)

11/21/08 - SSN received in mail

12/18/08 - Green Card received!!!

I-751 (lifting conditions)

8/10/10 - Sent to California Processing Center

8/20/10 - Received AOS letter

8/26/10 - NOA received biometrics appointment notification

9/16/10 - Biometrics Appointment in San Francisco

10/7/10 - Approved!

Citizenship

1/24/12 - Date filed

5/30/12 - Oath Ceremony!!!!

Adios, USCIS!

Ohhhh..... I see... do you know why I wouldn't be???????????/ :wacko:

When we did ours, we were both called up at the beginning of the interview and then they told me I could go sit down. They then proceeded with the visa interview with my husband, and did not ask me anything else.

Our Timeline

DCF - I-130

Yea same with me...went up to the window together and then sat down...later they asked me to come up and asked me some questions...total of about 15-20 minutes.

Guess it depends on who is at the gate. I had letter from embassy stating i could attend, also had my i.d's from my US gov't job (DHS) and the idiot out front still wouldn't let me in. Maybe i could have made more of an issue to get in, but if figured why rock the boat and possibly make thing harder for my fiancee with her interview. but i definitely would not go to Turkey for the just the interview! If you can make a vacation out of it and spend a week or two, go for it, but if you are going just for a few days and mainly for the interview, save your money and don't go.

Well I got my answer straight from the US Consulate in Ankara regarding the question that started this Topic and is as follows:

Dear Ms.

Since you, as the US citizen petitioner, are filing the I-130 petition through our office, you are required to be present at the time of your spouse's interview.

Immigrant Visa Unit

I just wanted to share this with anyone else on here that may have had the same concern.
