Question: what phrases in Portuguese that are swearing at someone (for example, VSF or something) would you find it acceptable for your partner to use with you (and I mean at you)? Does it matter if they're angry/fighting or not? Just trying to get a better grasp of Portuguese. :)

It's not acceptable to say ''fu*k you'' so it also isn't acceptable to say vai se foder, especially if you can understand what it means it's the same as him saying fu*k you.

Well, that's one of the agreement Charles and I have. We don't say terrible things like that to each other and we never fight, talk loud, have arguments or anything like that in public.

Sometimes when I'm mad I start speaking portuguese, he can't understand, but I'm not saying #### you or anything like that, I say things like ''mas que merda voce nunca faz isso to cansada'' sabe como?

So I guess it's up and Rey to you to device what can be say as a joke like ''aren't you bitchy today"' :P ou ''mas voce esta um saco hoje'' and what está indo além do limite como VSF ou idiota (very similar to english) and in your case, if you can understand then I don't know, if I were you I wouldn't accept strong swearing. Some swearing we say as joke, they don't bother me, we laugh about it, but when it's serious then it's another matter.

Yeah, I use "mas que merda" in portuguese, but he understands it, of course, since in spanish is "que mierda". I guess that's the only acceptable one since it's directed AT him, but ABOUT him.

Ken once told the FU word for me...it was long time ago... but then I told him to never do it again or else it would be over...

We have arguments, of course, but none of them involves the swearing, calling names kind of thing...it is always discussing about what caused the argument... we don't yell at each other... and Ken is the one that is calm and prefer to let it go or talk some other time.... I am the one who pushes...

perhaps an example of this would shed more light on the subject.
