Well tomorrow we will be looking at apartments,since as I have posted a few days ago,my man must move within 3 weeks from now.

The apartments look real nice on the Internet and the lady I spoke to was very nice on the phone.

Not even our Lab Dog is a problem since they accept large dogs.

Now we only worry about the deposits.At least 300$ in Security Deposit ,125$ Pet Deposit and 125$ in fees.

Please everybody keep your fingers crossed for us!!!!!!!!

09-02-2005 Applications for AOS, EAD, and AP received by MSC

10-21-2005 AOS fingerprint notice for 12-08-2005

11-07-2005 AP approved

12-05-2005 Infopass appt at San Jose office for interim EAD -- Refused, because it is already approved by MSC on 11-07-2005

12-07-2005 Attempt at interim EAD at San Francisco office -- no go. Back to San Jose, where CSO (chief station officer) tells they will contact MSC via email to request permission to issue interim EAD

12-08-2005 Biometrics for AOS and EAD. Having no EAD appt letter was no problem (used EAD NOA)

12-15-2005 EAD arrived in the mail

12-24-2005 Received interview letter; interview scheduled 03-01-2006

01-28-2006 Received replacement SSN card in married name (5 wks since application)

03-01-2006 AOS interview -- approved; received stamp in the passport

03-13-2006 Green card arrived in the mail

Good to hear your doggie aint a problem, I used to have to lie to landlords sometimes about not having any pets! lol. Good luck tomorrow, hope its lovely!

December 16th 05 - NOA's received for both AOS and EAD

December 31st 05 - Receive letter for AOS interview

February 6th 06 - AOS Interview - APPROVED

February 16th 06 - Biometrics Appointment

February 22nd 06 - EAD Approved via e mail

February 27th 06 - EAD card in mail!!!

March 6th 06 - Got a job!

March 17th 06 - Green Card Approval via e mail

March 18th 06 - 'Welcome to America' letter arrives

March 24th 06 - Green Card Arrives!

Hi there,

well thanks to all that have crossed their fingers for us.

We will get the apartment!!!!!!!!!! Jim can move in by the end of next week.It"s small but very nice and the Birch Creek area is very nice and spotless clean!

We ,by the way,found that apartment through www.ForRent.com.

A very good site!

We also went ahead looking for furniture and have also made a good deal on that since shipping my stuff would be way too expensive for us to afford it.

We went to a place called Peoples Furniture,which I found under the Furniture Rental Section of For Rent.com and got a good deal there.

We'll get all our furniture for payments of about 200$ amonth and it will be ours after 18month.

So to all of you that cant afford shipping your furniture to the US ,go have a look.

Wow, that pet deposit is cheap! Mine was $350 total but half of it is refundable provided she doesn't do any damage but the cheapest I saw elsewhere was $250 non-refundable. Those fees will kill you, I completely understand! I knew about the deposit and pet deposit, etc, but I failed to realize I would also have a $250 utilities deposit! That one definitely blindsided me so you might wanna check that one out!

Good luck on the apartment hunting and that is cheap for the fees. I have seen pet deposits up to 500.00 with clause of a small dog and only half back at end of lease as long as no damages.

I looked at one place that wanted to charge me $250 for my cat, $250 for my gerbil, and $250 for my fish (a betta in about a gallon size bowl). Needless to say I didn't move into there! I can understand wanting a deposit for someone with a giant tank that could break and ruin the floor but a betta? And a gerbil? What's she gonna do, chew through her wire cage and nibble some carpet? These fees are outrageous!

Landlords set their own rules -- very often the rule is "no pets."

Well,just got a call from the manager of the apartment complex Jim can move in,..............due to no rental history(he's been in the Military until 8/05) and the problems with his so called "freind" that he's been staying with,his security deposit just went up to 500$! Plus 250 in fees and pet deposit...........

Now we have to come up with that within 2 days................

God help us!!!!!!!!!!
