My husband is here on a K-3 and we are doing the paperwork (AOS & EAD) with our lawyer on Tuesday. I was looking at a few of the documents and some ask how are you in the US (Visitor, student, perm resident or other). What do you answer and if you answer other how do you specify what other means???

Also we are going to have to change our address (probably) in March, how difficult is that process?

When the passport expire the I-94 expires, do you have to renew one or both?

What timeframe should I expect on the AOS & EAD, we live in Louisville Kentucky?

Thanks for your help.

I'll tackle a few....

Check with your lawyer, but 'other/K-3' sounds like the right neighborhood.

Having a lawyer on record will help smooth any problems with address changes as the lawyer will also receive notices on your case. But it's a pain to change your address. There's AR-11, which is required to record the immigrant's move, but does not change his address. You can copy AR-11 to any Service Center or District Office where you have a pending case (will be several with an AOS application). If a Sponsor has submitted an I-864 and move, they have to file I-865. Notify the Post Office. Call the 1-800#. Follow up on all of it 30 days later. And then again in 30 more days :)

If the passport is expiring, you can usually renew it with the foreign country's Consulate in the US. See their webpage for instructions. The I-94 can not be renewed, but a K-3 is admitted for 2 years, with travel privledges.

EAD has its own timeline, not related to your DO (check MSC?)

AOS timelines are posted for each District Office at uscis.gov

YMMV :)
