Major Rob Gallimore, 36, disgraced himself while commanding a 120-strong company of Welsh Guards in the Falklands.

To break the boredom, a boozy lunchtime party was thrown in the sergeants' mess at the garrison in Port Stanley. After several drinks he yelled "Naked bar" and stripped.

Witnesses said he then led some of his men, who stayed clothed, in a Conga round the mess. The jape lasted ten minutes before a Non-Commissioned Officer told him: "Sir, I think you ought to put your clothes back on - there are women present."

Married Gallimore immediately got dressed and reported himself to senior officers for misconduct.

He was removed from command and flown to the UK where he faces disciplinary action, although he is expected to quit the Army.

The elite Queen's guardsman won the Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service in Afghanistan and the US Bronze Star for service with the Americans in Iraq.

A senior officer said last night: "He is an extremely good officer and this was out of character."

A military source added: "Service in the Falklands can be very boring. Major Gallimore was served all sorts of ferocious cocktails." After the episode the company was banned from drinking for the rest of the tour.

That's one way to get out of a bad duty assignment.

I was on a training exercise in '86 and my first sergeant came in drunk and took a whiz on our chief of firing battery while he was sleeping. He didn't get in trouble but he did have to replace the chief's bible as it was rendered unreadable by the urine stains.
