Sheriff Joe was found personally culpable for a number of deaths in custody which directly involved the mistreatment of prisoners in his care by him and his staff.

Sheriff Joe and his policies are the subject of the thread. Soldier suicide is not.

Approximately $50 million in damages has been paid out in Maricopa county to people who suffered injuries in Sheriff Joe's jails. In at least one case, Sheriff Joe was found personally liable and required to pay the damages.

Jail time should be hard so the criminals wont wanna come back.
