if you are the american then you do not need to prove anything for yourself. Only the impending immigrant needs to prove their immunizations. If you would rather get boosters I guess that is a posible. We opted for the titers test because it was easier for us. Make sure he has his flu shot though because it is required for people of 50. Good luck.

I went to get a copy of a test I had done 10 years ago here at Medisys, a private clinic, that's where he would go for his Imm medical as that is on the list of approved docs. I went to get a copy of that not imm I had none here, they are alll from the US.

I asked them they said the appt takes a day or two to et up and about 48 hours to get the results and if he needs shots they give them right there.

Now I dont' know if he had all three, I know he had a tetnus shot 6 years ago in the US and they are mailing that to me. So tentus is under 10 years, it's still good for 4 more years.

I don't know if the other 2 are all ok. If he needs the tdap shot, becuase he has no records, does he have to wait a year till he gets them all???

Flu shot, he will get when they start giving it, he can't get it now, they aren't giving any???

Varicella, he can get there if needed be or he may just be able to make the oral declaration.

Thank you everyone. I wish everyone here speedy visa approvals.

BTW, I applied in person with my husband in Montreal

Only the Canadian needs his records. If you cant get the proof you can get the titers. Yes they accept verbal confirmation of him having chickenpox but you have to know the exact year when he had it. As for his medical most doctors want the proof of immigration interview before they will schedule you for the appointment.

We applied at the consulate in Calgary but Im pretty sure it is the same process after the initial I-130 filing.

\Hi, I know, I didn't go for me for immigration. I had a test done privately there for myself 10 years ago. I went to get a copy. Just to be safe. I refuse canadian healthcare now and go to the USA whenever I need to but now that I'm moving, I wanted a copy of this test as it's easier for me to obtain while I'm here than if I would want it once I've moved. It wasn't for the immigration it was because of the immigration. My appologies for not being clear.

I've not bothered becuase while I go to the US always for healthcare now living here I figured I could always just get a copy, but now well figure better safe than sorry. It was an important test that I should have a copy of. Hopefully I'll never need it but just in case.

I don't know what to do with hubby. He remembers having the chickenpox. That's not a big deal. I remember mine to the month and year too.

But I don't know what to do for the tests. My family doctor/internest in NYC. I suppose I could ask him to fax me Rx to get the antibody test done and have it done in Plattsburgh. I don't have a doctor to go to here. Both hubby and I don't do the canadian healthcare. So I'm a bit up a creek as how to get the titers done. He'd get the boosters he doens't care as long as he doesn't have to wait.

Medisys said they can give him the shots the same day. That's fine, as long as it's done and over with and no postponing no waiting. I really ready for the loony bin.

Plus the cost of keeping two households will be hard too. I've rented an apartment, electrc, gas, cable, telephone, I'm buying a business, I've saved for this for 10 years. I've been waiting 10 years for the right time.

I'm sorry I'm stressed, I need to let it out. Please accept my appologies

I know everyone here is in the same boat as me and everyone wants to go. I'm sorry, truely sorry to make me sound more important than anyone else. I'm not doing that. I'm just well cracking up. I'm trying to get it all done.

I tried to find out who to call for his immunization records but no luck.

I wonder if I got him the tpad test in the US or the titers there if they would count??

In my opinion if he was vacinated in the US then the tests would in theory count especially since the test are for the US immigration.

No need to appologize for being sooo upset. Im upset and ready to go home too. My husband and I were recently diagnosed with some fertility issues and to get into the fertility clinic here is going to take until December 2012ish. Im pretty upset about the wait also. I can get into an infertility clinic back at home any day and am sooo ready to start a family. We all feel the pain and are hoping for a fast interview process.

Hi thank you for understanding. I fully get that. I had cancer at one point and I live in fear. I went through treatment here but will never again. I almost died because what everyone in the USA gets even people on Medicaid as standard I had to go into a trial and it almost killed me. I wanted treatment in the US but the US said ok, but you have to live here for the duration since it's chemo we need to monitor you. I couldn't live there for 3 months, hubby had to work. I see the dentists and the equipement is so far advanced in the US compared to here.

I fully get that and I understand totally. thank you for understanding.

I just don't want anyone to think that I feel I should go faster than anyone else or that I'm in a worse situation. I just need to vent sometimes and get it out.

I have no one else to tell so I'm writing here but I also want to be able to contribute and help people

I'm happy to post my time line but I don't know how to do it and so far I have nothing to report. Everyday I check the mail to see if there is anything. It's almost 4 weeks.

The tetnus vaccine was 6 years ago so I don't know if it's valid.

thank you and good luck I hope you have a beautiful happy healthy baby ASAP

Hi Birdnerd, thanks for inviting me to come over and wait with you guys here! I guess you can add me to the list.

My US husband filed the I-130 in Vancouver in person on June 10, 2010. We have not heard a peep from Montreal yet, so almost 8 weeks waiting for the first notice of acceptance…or is it approval? I am always confused about that.

Those of you who have waited 4 weeks for a first communication (NOA1), you're in for a bit more waiting, unfortunately. :(

housewife,

For immigration, the tetanus shot (Tdap, same thing) is only valid 2 years and he will have to get this done again since it was 6 years ago.

Police clearances…Question: I went to the police department in Vancouver in person and they told me that if I did not yet have a case file number or "checklist" from Montreal asking for the police cert, that they could not do it for me.

Or Montreal might not accept it and I would have to get it done again. Is that right? I didn't trust what he said.

I would like to be able to mail back the checklist and DS-230 the day I receive NOA1. Can I get the police clearance started right now while waiting for NOA1 and a case number? Or does it even matter because I don't have to send the actual police document with my DS-230, just have to be in the process of getting the documents together?

I know that I CANNOT even schedule the medical until I have a case number (therefore NOA1).

Immunization records question: How official do the immunization records have to be? For example, I found my records from when I was a baby, but it is pretty skimpy, just a little book filled out by hand and I think my mom forgot to have the nurse fill out and sign

when I got my MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) done, even though for sure it was done in 1981. So there is a record of the date when it was supposed to be and was done, but no nurse initials, dosage amount, etc. Is that invalid then??

Should I go for the blood test?

Hi Milover. I wish I could answer your question, not a clue, have not gotten that far. I'm the american my husband is the canadian.

All I did so far was go to the Montreal office and pay $355. I got a preprinted paper telling me what constitutes residence. I am just about all qualified for that. I have a letter/lease saying I rented, paid, etc for my new apartment.

Like you I want to send back the form the day it arrives saying I have everything.

Next tuesday will be 4 weeks that I went to the Montreal office and filed the I-130

Hi guys,

I guess just to add to the timeline, my husband officially submitted the DS-230 forms along with the checklist yesterday. So now I guess we're going to be part of the large waiting party.

Cheers,

- Sam

I applied in Vancouver last November and I received the package from Montreal in January, 6-8 weeks later, so I would expect you will receive it any day now.

I had to show the copy of the letter from Montreal to get a police certificate. I got it done on the same day though - took about 20 minutes (RCMP in North Vancouver). I think it depends on the RCMP station you go to though.

As for police check, it maybe depends on which station you visit. I had no problems doing it here in Toronto, didn't even need to tell them it was for immigration, they knew what they were doing. I did it after I sent in my DS-230. WIth the way things are going now, I'll be lucky if it's only 6 months old by the time I go for an interview. :P The consulate wants the one you submit to them (at interview) to have been issued within 1 year.

For vaccinations - yeah, your little book is not overly helpful. If you've got it, great, but you should be able to just get your family doctor to do the titer test, then give you any necessary shots. Super fast, easy, and (in Ontario) free.

:)

Woohoo, now you're 'officially' in line for an interview date! Or at least you will be, once Montreal logs your documents. You can call DoS to find out when that's been done. (202-663-1225, then 1, 0).

I dont' know if this exists, I did a search and didn't see anything, but I'm awful with searches in forums.

I have a favor/question.

Does anyone have the checklist ???

By that I mean everything you need for getting the visa??

I know it's RCMP

Medical

Vaccinations

Affidavit of Suppor/proof of assets (are bank records and brokerage accounts enough or is there something special as we are using assets only at this time)

Proof of established residence (if they don't take my lease, telephone, electric and gas bill plus proof that I own a business there we hae a problem)

translation of documents like birth certificate/divorce. What is a long form. His birth certificate has his date of birth, his parents name, plus I had his baptism certificate translated too so he has a birth certificate with his name, date of birth etc parents listed and his original baptism and his divorce traslated (cost $820)

Proof of ongoing marriage, I am going to assume that a joint checking account statement from the bank is ok. I can bring a will that says he leaves everything to me, and I leave everything to him. Those are recent wills, being signed this week.

I can also produce that he has the electric bill on his name and I have the phone bill in my name at the same address plus that I am the pricipal driver of one of his cars as he owns both our cars.

prior 3 years of tax returns for me. (0 income but just filed them to be safe that they exist)

What am I missing? Please help.
