I-134 is only for K-1 visas, you need to fill out only the I-864.

For better responses, it would be best if you wrote out the full question, as we're not all familiar with each question on each form. ;)

I actually had both 1-184, I1-864a and I-134 filled up just in case as specified in the Checklist to bring for Interview

Were applying for IR1 Visa

I actually prepared I-134, I-1864 and I-1864a as stated on the Checklist that you will bring for the Interview

That means I dont have to worry about the I_134 anymore then....thanks

good luck on Wednesday Birdnerd.

Matt and Susan....the whole process from the day I filed the I-130 to my interview date is only 154 days and housewifes is 189 days so Id say as long as you fill the P3 out as soon as you get it and then schedule your interview as soon as you get P4 then you should be ok.

Hi all again,

Our P3 just arrived today and we are on the canada.usvisa-info.com site. We've created an account, "added a family member", ie. me, and are trying to select my Trip Purpose. The P3 has said we "must choose 'Permanently Immigrate to the US'", but there are four options.

* Permanently immigrate to the US (Fiance K1/K2)

* Permanently immigrate to the US (Scheduled by NVC)

* Permanently immigrate to the US (Ready to Schedule)

* Permanently immigrate to the US (Diversity Visa).

We're quite sure that it would be either the second or third option, but given we're DCF'ing we're almost certain our application hasn't gone through to the NVC. We're applying for a CR-1 visa.

Thanks for the advice so far. Any help would be appreciated.

Matthew & Susan

Hey Matt & Susan,

You shouldn't be booking an interview yet, you need to give them at least 6 weeks to process the paperwork you're sending back before you can schedule an appointment. You can get your P3 turned around quickly, then maybe check with DoS that you're in the system as 'eligible for interview'. The number to call them is 202-663-1225.

Thanks Birdnerd, much appreciated. We aren't actually trying to schedule an interview, it's just that we were automatically directed to this page by both the site and our P3.

Our P3 said that we needed to register for a DHL location, which could be done through the canada.usvisa-info.com website. In order to do this, we need to select a "Trip Purpose" from the four options listed (Fiance K1/K2, Scheduled by NVC, Ready to schedule, Diversity). We can't navigate around the system any further - to select the DHL location - until we've completed this step, and we're hesitant about returning the DS-230/P3 stuff without a DHL office they can send responses to.

Ah, I see, it asks you the DHL info first, no problem.

You are choosing this option: Permanently immigrate to the US (Ready to Schedule)

Once at the next step, you can just not schedule an interview. It will show you the first available date, however.

Police clearances…Question: I went to the police department in Vancouver in person and they told me that if I did not yet have a case file number or "checklist" from Montreal asking for the police cert, that they could not do it for me.

Or Montreal might not accept it and I would have to get it done again. Is that right? I didn't trust what he said.

I would like to be able to mail back the checklist and DS-230 the day I receive NOA1. Can I get the police clearance started right now while waiting for NOA1 and a case number? Or does it even matter because I don't have to send the actual police document with my DS-230, just have to be in the process of getting the documents together?

I know that I CANNOT even schedule the medical until I have a case number (therefore NOA1).

Hello,

New to the site, i went into my local police detachment, (Kelowna BC) today, Oct 18th, and requested a police record for myself, and they stated that i can pick it up the next day, Oct 19, anytime

Hi all again.

Thanks for all your help so far. It has been a great relief! We have one (hopefully final) question before filing our DS-230.

Our P3 said for us to register on the canada.usvisa-info.com website, and then visit montreal.usconsulate.gov to find out which forms we needed to return with the DS-230. As you can see through the link below, it says to file a DS-230, a checklist and then it starts talking about fiance visas (not relevant to us as we're filing for CR-1). Then below that it says we need to file a receipt of DS-160, which we are a little weirded out by, because the DS-160 page says "NONIMMIGRANT" all over it.

http://montreal.usconsulate.gov/content/content.asp?section=visas&document=visa_pkt3

Does anyone here have any suggestions as to whether we need to complete the DS-160 or not?

Thanks again.

Matt & Susan

The DS-160 is only for the K (and other non-immigrant) visas, you don't need one.

good luck with the interview tomorrow birdnerd!

i hope all goes well and i look forward to hearing how it went! =)

i had another question i wanted to throw out there...

regarding domicile and all the proof its asking for (ie, income, ties to the US, etc)...

this is all stuff the US citizen has to show, right? Not the Canadian?

i guess im just getting thrown off by the term, "Applicant".

i always read "Sponsor" for the US citizen, and "Beneficiary" for the Canadian. But who would the Applicant be in this case?

All the best to you tomorrow birdnerd!! Can't wait to hear how it goes for you.

Still haven't received my packet 4 in the mail... starting to lose faith; I've emailed, phoned and don't no where to go next, because although I've booked my interview and appointment, I still cannot go to either without my paperwork :(

Thanks, bigbass. :)

US Citizen = petitioner (for I-130), sponsor (for I-864)

Canadian = beneficiary (for I-130), applicant (for DS-230), as in it's your application

The USC must show they are 're-establishing domicile' in the US. Best way to show this is to actually have moved back before the Can Cit goes for interview, but if you have enough supporting evidence you should be ok.

Refresh my memory - DoS told you P4 was mailed? When was that? Did they confirm you are 'eligible for interview'?

If the answer is yes, then maybe try emailing Mtl consulate (they actually REPLIED to someone the other day!) and explain the situation.

Don't worry too much, you've still got plenty of time between now and your interview date, so I'm sure you can get it worked out. :)
