Thanks guys...

Does this checklist applies to DCF immigrant visa applicants?

The day of your interview

Please bring to your interview the original and one copy of each of the following documents (as applicable), for each applicant:

-The appointment letter showing the date and time of your interview

-Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date you plan to enter the United States

-Birth certificate

-Adoptions decree (s)

-Marriage certificate (s)

-Death and/or divorce certificate(s)

- Police certificates from each country in which the applicant has resided for one year or longer. The certificate(s) must be issued within one year of the date of the visa appointment. NOTE: An applicant must present a police certificate from his/her country of current residence and country of nationality, if residence in such country exceeds 6 months

- Court records

-Military records

- Evidence of domicile in the United States

- Job offer letter (for employment-based visas)

- Affidavit of support

- Evidence of support

- Medical examination

-Two photographs (in color)

-For K visa applicants, a letter of intent to marry signed by the petitioner within 30 days of interview date

QUESTION:

For Affidavit and Evidence of Support, can the Job letter of the USC petitioner good enough or he/she should present a bankloads of Money?

thanks Am/Can so I am assuming that my husband (the canadian)is the petitioner??? Is taht what you mean?? Not clear.

Did I answer all your questions??? I hope so. It's so confusing.

None of the choices really fit but I think you can go and change the "status" when you long in.

NO you (the american) are the petitioner bc you are petitioning (the I130) for your spouse.

Your spouse is the beneficiary bc he is the one who is getting the visa.

thanks am./can, did you get yours???? toes and fingers crossed.

if I can answer any other questions feel free to ask I'm totally at a loss.

So far I gathered that I had to register on line and I did. Then I have to print out the DHL letter and put in the ID number and take it to DHL to ship the 230 to the consulate.

Now this is the part that I have trouble understanding for myself. Some people could walk to the consulate from where I live. Certainly only 5 min by car. I have to now drive 45 min to the DHL center to take the packet to drop off.

Not to mention I could go to any other DHL closer and drop it. I would be happier to just pay the fees than wait to drive the 45 min next week.

Oh well.

also the links are wierd you go to the consulate website and click on packet 3 and it says ds230 and checklist but where do you get the checklist???

I can download the 230 I found that no probs a while ago but the checklist and what do you do with the checklist???

acutally I have to make a comment and say on my documnt list in pkt 3 (this is a list not something that says I should send back) it says 5 pics.

So I'm confused but I would rather see people safe than sorry for the price of a few extra pics??? Sorry if I am screwing up anything or confusing.

Id heard three for the interview and two for the medical (squash that....It might be the other way around) but either way thats what the five picts are for....Im getting ours done at walmart...they are 9.99 for two,so thats pretty cheap.

First off, congrats everyone! :) Suddenly a heavenly (though software buggy) light is finally shining on the Mtl consulate! :D

Unfortunately, it seems as though we are all guinea pigs for these new processes. :P

I regrettably don't have any information for the new filers regarding the DS-230, checklist, etc. The more information we share with each other, everyone benefits. If someone can scan and post any of the new documentation from Montreal, I'm sure it would be appreciated.

It sounds as though they might no longer require you mail them back a checklist, but I will scan and post mine tomorrow, if you'd like.

One thing is clear - you should not schedule an interview until you are eligible (i.e. have received notification that your case is complete, or has been logged). Sure, you can schedule one in the new system, but it doesn't know if you are eligible or not. So you could walk up to the consulate on the day of your choosing, but if they aren't finished with your paperwork, you won't be let in.

Petitioner = the USC (they filed the I-130 petition), Beneficiary = CAN (you are benefitting from the petition)

5 photos works out to 3 for the medical, 2 for the interview. I paid $6.99 per pair from Costco (cheapest I've seen).

[Congrats on finally getting a new date, taurus!]

As for the above - yes, you should present all of those documents they list (only whatever is relevant to you though, so not the K1 letter of intent, obviously)

Do you mean a job OFFER letter, or a letter from the employer showing position, salary, etc.?

If the former, then probably not. Montreal has historically required the USC to present 6 months' worth of paystubs. A job offer is not considered sufficient. If the salary is 0 or less than the $18,XXX for the poverty limit, then you can use assets. These must equal 5x the poverty limit amount if in Canadian funds, or 3x if USD.
