Hi, All

My wife is a green card (2-year) holders and she has been in USA for 1 year and 2 month. She has got a full-time job and have a steady financial income since Feb 2006. I have a full-time job as well.

We are going back to China to visit my wife's parents next month. Meantime, we are also planning to invite my wife's parents to come to visit us in US too. But we are really blank in mind how we should do to apply for their tour visit. Can anyone who knows the process kindly give us some guides? Our purpose is just to invite them to visit us in US and have a pleasant trip.

1. Which form shall we fill out? Where to get those forms?

2. What kind of documents shall we submit pertaining to the application? Like financial support.

3. What kind of certifications should my wife's parents prepare to get in China? Such as 'birth certification', 'non-criminal record certification'? Is their marriage certification necessary or i think my birth certification should be better because it has both of their names on it?

4. Usually how long will it take for this request to be processed before my parents have the interview date fixed?

5. How long probably can they stay in US for this visit?

Thank you!

Google is your friend. :)

And, this may not be the appropriate consulate for her family but is also a good jumping off point:

Wil,

The first thing you need is the right frame of reference - you do not apply for their visit, they apply for their visit. You can help them out in the foreground by paying for their expenses if they do not have adequate financial resources of their own, and you can also help in the background by helping them to prepare a strong case to support their visa applications.

In addition to the refences that TracyTN gave you, you might also want to look at 9 FAM 41.31 Notes, in particular N3.

Thanks TracyTN for your link. We will read it carefully.

Thanks Yodrak for your information. Now we know my wife's parents should apply instead of us. You also mentioned we should look at 9 FAM 41.31 Notes, in particular N3. What is that? Can you send us a link?
