Hello all,

I think this will be an important thread for the May Filers who are receiving the NOA2 and letter for NVC.

A couple of months ago I read in the forum on how to track the package NVC sends to the consulate. I can not find that forum anymore. Could someone please post that information here.

Thank you so much

We just went through the steps right before you. The trip of the package NVC to the Consulate took about a week. Getting off their paper stack and into the database takes another 2-3 after that. So basically 3-4 weeks until you show up on their page of "ready to interview". http://guayaquil.usconsulate.gov/cases-ready-for-interview2/ from there, about two phone calls or two weeks (if you ignore them saying call back in 8 weeks) until they are willing to believe you have downloaded the Packet 4 (and didn't wait to get in mail) and swear you have completed and the medical, and then they are willing to put the interview date. They are setting interviews (according to my fiance, who payed the $12 today third time) about 8 weeks after showing up on their website.

Sooooooooo, figure you would be interviewing in about 2.5 months. 3 is a possibility, and 2 would be getting them to rush the interview date. Sorry if that seems long to you. On a bright note, you two went at lightning speed from application in May to NOA2!!! Best of luck!

6/30/2010 Consulates list of "cases ready to interview"

7/5/2010 "call back in 8 wks and THEN we will set interview date"

July 2010 Three MORE calls-"now I can't book end of August, that's too far ahead to put on the calendar".

August 2010 Last-minute decision by two of Ivan's boys that they want the K2, two more weeks of drafting and Notorizing new legal custody agreements

8/12/10 A FIFTH PIN and call-- "call back just ahead".

8/16/10 A SIXTH PIN and call-- "we can book you for in two days, but if you want next Monday the 23rd or Tuesday the 24th, then call back later THIS WEEK, and we will book you for MONDAY MORNING". frustrated letter by me to Consulate email

Esperanza,

I just want to thank you for providing such a valuable information. It is so amazing to know that here in VJ everyone is willing to help and I haven't stayed back as I have been providing my experience of what I have gone through so far. I would really appreciate if we can stay connected and provide more information. I was planning to e-mail the embassy to ask some questions. The approval notice is only valid for 4 months so I am guessing they are willing to extend that day or they will do it before then. My plans were to go in December and get married in January (ceremony only) then come to the US and marry legally. So if it takes 2 or 3 months will not affect my visit for interview. What is more important to me is to get the visa.

One question I want to ask you, so if the appointment is in 2 months does it matter when the police record is obtained if it's 2 months old is it deemed acceptable? or do you plan on getting all the papers one month before the meeting. This is something I would like to know since depending on that I will proceed.

And by the way I finally checked and the envelope arrived to Guayaquil yesterday. Did you contact the embassy by e-mail? I already found packet 4 from their website but I am planning to send them a request for an electronic copy just so that I have a record of them sending it to me electronically. For the three calls you had to make did you have to pay 3 times 8 dollars?

Sorry for so many questions I hope everything goes well with you and your petition

First of all, we have paid 3x$12. Every call. And on the last call on Friday they DID say they could interview him yet this month, end of the month. So that would bring us to about 7 weeks since the package arrival, and about 4 weeks after notification that we are in their online database.

We downloaded packet 4, as most on VJ do. I don't know why you would need to verify with them. If you say you downloaded (we did), they believe you. They ask a few times when you try to set the interview "Are you sure you have all the documents from Packet 4 ready? Medical done? Police record?". As we said yes, they were willing to set the date. After, that is, about two weeks out from showing up online, and after a few calls.

However, we now have 3 family members interviewing, as two of his kids will come now instead of waiting until Spring, so we need extra time to gather the funds. So guess what? We have to wait ten days until they are even ready to pull up the August calendar and schedule us end of August. They say Aug. 30th is too far out to schedule. Isn't that irony...

Ivan obtained his medical about a month ago. His police record about two months ago. The lady didn't seem concerned on the phone about that.

As far as if I have emailed the embassy. Yes. Twice. To ask if the boys HAVE to interview at the same time as dad, or if they can interview later in Spring. Very standard response about interviewing first time, form letter almost, and didn't answer my question. I emailed again, and the second was a bit cloudy for interpretation, but it said "if they choose to interview at the same time", so I took that as "they can interview at a later time"...lol. (Later confirmed on $12 call). But both times they responded back in English in about two business days, which I thought was good.

Oh, and your fiance should go to Banco de Guayaquil in the AM to pay $12 and get the pin, if he does not just pay over the phone with MC/Visa, because my fiance went in the PM, and they said they could no longer "attend" him for that because it was too late in the afternoon. He was in the Riobamba branch that day. Typical Ecuador banking...

Thank you so much, for all the valuable information you provided me. It really helps me a lot. I would like to get the appointment for September 15 timeframe. In a bout 2 weeks I expect to have all the requirements from packet 4. I guess it is still to early to call for an appointment? I wonder if they give you the date at your request or if it is whatever they give you. I also would like to know if there is a specific date of the week when they do k1 visa interviews.

Thanks again for the valuable information you are providing.

Take care

Too early even for August, according to a conversation with them on Friday. And I thought they interviewed K1 Visas Monday-Thursday only. Anyone else can confirm this?

It may help to email the consulate shortly after your papers are due to arrive. I used the email address from the consulate review page, and this helped us to get on their "Ready to be interviewed list" rather quickly. I just told them I was inquiring to see if our packet had arrived to Guayaquil. They got back to me in three days or so, and we were put on the list right away. But it still took the "Packet 4" letter 2.5 months to arrive:) I don't know if they've recently changed their "packet 4" process, but we only received a letter telling us to download packet 4 from their website. A waste of postage and paper in my opinion. Good luck with getting your interview set-up!
