Time frame for EI

Hi,

I need some feed back, I will poe by the end of Sept. But i want to leave my job by mid Aug. is that a problem??? i mean will Ei give me a hard time since i will have six weeks before i leave canada. I am a little confused, I've checked all the thread before i posted this question . Please dont ask me to read it again

From everything I've heard you shouldnt quit until just before you are moving as the reason you will be able to get EI is because you are moving to be with your spouse, but if you leave work early it doesn't compute with them. I've heard people say this over and over and over so I'm going to say you should wait until closer to your departure as otherwise they could deny your claim. I think theres some reasons why in the EI thread somewhere.....just not sure where....

There was 1 VJ member that was denied EI because she quit her job to soon. I do not know how long of a period it was! You could phone the EI people and see what they have to say, lot may depend what your reason is.

If you want to leave early you and you have a good relationship with management, you could ask to be laid off. This way EI won't ask about quitting early. I lucked out doing this as my company was downsizing anyway.
