My father is a permanent resident and he applied for me in Oct. 2006. During the wait time I turned 21 years old. According to the visa bulletin I still need to wait for the visa number. But what I would like to know is, what happens after I get a visa number? I have been told that I will have to go back to my home country (Brazil), to get the Green Card there, but i am afraid that if i go i will not get anything there and will not be allowed to come back to the U.S. .

Please help

the only way you could adjust in country is with an immigration reform. for now, youw will go through consular processing, you will be denied becaus when you leave you will get a 10 year ban. you will need to file a waiver, the i601 and your father write a hardship letter.

depening on the hardship letter, your ban will be forgiven, it has to overcome the 10 year ban.
