Congratulations! Actually, I would rather have a retiree than a 'newbie' - there is a distinct learning curve involved and someone who is still very inexperienced would possibly have made other mistakes or be really nit-picky and slow :) . It is nice to hear about some of the measures Montreal is taking to catch up.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Yeah...Ideally, they'd be bringing in some sharp, on-the-ball workers who wouldn't do stuff like forget to deal properly with your fingerprints, etc. But at least there's *some* sign of some interest in improving the situation.

I am just thankful that she called his house in Calgary. We probably could have gotten the fingerprint verrified in Calgary, but that would slow the process down - again.

I agree! I am glad she caught it before we left, and tried to find us.

Oh, I understand. If I were you, I'd just be so glad to have it all done that I wouldn't really care about anything else! And Kathryn may be right that a retiree is preferrable to a brand-new employee.

But, Montreal is just so horribly, staggeringly slow with the CR1/IR1 visas overall that I think my impatience is understandable too!

And, I know the basic problem is probably not the fault of the employees themselves (or not first and foremost their fault). I mean, people higher up have obviously decided that it's not worthwhile to spend the money to get Mtl moving properly. But it IS a big problem. And I don't think we should ever just be totally ok with it. We should all write (or have our spouses write) letters to elected officials about what we've been through.
