I've heard quite a few members here said that once the NOA2 is 'approved' things move relatively quicker. I don't get what that means. Is it quicker because it is psychological? Whereby a definite timeline exists and some activity is evident. Because I've started to be concerned that once the NOA2 kicks in, I might have another 3 month wait until the interview.

Okay so i hit the 5 month mark on Jan 2, 2011 and all i have is a collective touch from October 3rd. I think just like everyone else im gona call them on monday and they are probably gona give me the same story that everyone else has been getting. Any idea how i can get in touch with a senator (like how everyone else is doing) i live in florida. Any help on how i could go about contacting the senator would be highly appreciated, i am sick and tired of waiting...arghhhhhhhh :(

Ps: Which number do i call the USCIS to check on my case status ?

Try these links below. I just searched for my state and went to the senator or congressman's website. Then, I found the section that said something about "help with a federal agency" or a similar category. They should have a form for you to fill out and fax to them that gives your consent for USCIS to release information to the senator. I just contacted mine yesterday, so hopefully I'll hear something soon

NVC got our case on Jan 4, 2011 and was sent to the Embassy on Jan 6, 2011. Thank you Lord!!!

We got our MNL case number now too!! All is going very fast now! Yaaaahhhhoooo!!!

I-129F mailed to VSC June 18,2010.

I-129F delivered to VSC June 21,2010.

Waiting, waiting for NOA1.

July 12, 2010 VSC states petition was rejected (no reason given) and was being returned however they did give me the case #.

Waiting, waiting, did not get returned petition instead got hard copy of NOA1 in mail on July 26, 2010 with

different case # (very strange!!!) I have not seen anything like this on VJ.

NOA1 dated July 20, 2010 (way too long) 29 days since delivered.

Check cleared July 22, 2010.

Received NOA1 hard copy July 26, 2010.

"Touch" July 27, 2010.

"Touch" Oct. 3, 2010 Yeah!!!!, at least something.

YEEPEE!!!! Finally NOA2. Dec 30,2010 got cell text at 4:04pm, and email notice at 6:00pm that our petition has been approved.

Now for the rest of the process, should not be so long now!!!!!!

This long wait has been very stressful for both of us, now we can make more plans for the rest of our lives together.

NVC got our case on Jan 4, 2011 and was sent to the Embassy on Jan 6, 2011. Thank you Lord!!!

We now have our MNL case number!!!!

You should check in over in the regional forum that covers Japan. They will have information specific to Tokyo embassy. In my case, Bogota embassy seems to be a little backed up and then add the holidays so it has slowed down somewhat. Our NOA2 was received on Oct 18 and the embassy did not get the petition package until Nov 12. We sent in the forms but because they had a lighter caseload for December they gave us an interview for January 19. So for us its going to be about 3 months from NOA2 to interview. Without the intervening Christmas holidays, I'm sure we would have already had our interview.

At our embassy, it is said that if you get your Package 3 forms in before the 15th - 20th of the month, you will get an appointment for the following month. Remember though, this is specific to Bogota.

Good Luck!!!

So I just thought i'd update you all on our situation and hopefully if anyone has had similar and have moved on they can help us out. 2 days shy of the 5 month mark we received an RFE for a form that was definitely DEFINITELY in the pack. We know for sure because we made a table of contents and had copies of the form to hand.

This was the 12th December, we returned the form instantly, then on NYE we got an email to say on the 22nd they received our missing info and should expect a decision within 60 days.

To me it stinks as if they have just bought themselves an extra 2 months. Just wondering if anyone else has had an rfe and if it moves quicker once they acknowledge the rfe response

Thats the standard response. From what Ive seen on timelines on the site, RFEs are usually processed within 2-4 weeks after they get them.

I got the best news today I've had all year!!! I called USCIS again, not really expecting much (but hoping for the best) and asked to speak to a higher level of customer service. After waiting 15 minutes, she said that she had good news--my case was approved on January 4!!! Thank you so much, Lord!!! I can't contain my excitement =). I guess they just haven't updated my case online, but she said I should get a letter in the mail. Praise the Lord and thank you VJ for the encouragement!!!
