Turns out my RFE was for not checking a box on Part C, Question 2 - I left it blank thinking it was a question for military personnel only!! Mailed back this afternoon, priority & certified. ::whew, thought it was something worse! If you look at the form, it honestly DOES look like it....but oh well!!

Praise God for that! Yea, I almost skipped that question, too, because they have it right after the military section lol. So, when you get an RFE, do you lose your place in line? That is, do you have to wait extra, or do they put you right back where you were before the RFE?

Good thing you did. I think that RFEs that ask for more proof of a relationship are the ones that cause the most delay; I think the bottom line is to make sure you have your pictures, train/bus/airline tickets, and passports stamps, when necessary. The constituency services for my member of Congress said that USCIS raises an eyebrow to this new trend in online relationships -- in which case, be thorough and practical in piecing together the i-129F.

From what I've read, they do all of the review of your petition and when you receive an RFE it will be for everything that they found. The only time that they would issue another RFE would be because of any additional information that you submitted in responce to the original RFE. Do I smell a NOA2?

So we're at 4 months since our NOA1 now. What are people going to do in a month from now when it gets to a 5 month wait?

Start of relationship

??/07/2008 - A random Skype message came through to me from an American girl

14/02/2009 - After months of talking, the American girl flew over to me - I knew we were meant to be

18/08/2009 - I proposed to her on Brighton Beach, UK

K1 Journey

15/07/2010 - We finally put in the i129f application - after shortly considering me going there on VWP, marrying and trying to Adjust Status, but was too risky

03/01/2011 - NOA2 on the day Dawn returned to NY after spending Christmas with me

10/02/2011 - I visited NY for 3 weeks (let this hold up the K1 process)

28/02/2011 - Medical

29/03/2011 - K1 Interview at London Embassy - Visa granted!

01/04/2011 - Visa in hand

Next Stage

03/05/2011 - POE in JFK - can't wait!

04/06/2011 - Our Wedding Day :)

So we're at 4 months since our NOA1 now. What are people going to do in a month from now when it gets to a 5 month wait?

I believe then we have a reason to contact our local congressman to inquire on our behalf to USCIS. I hope it doesn't get to that stage.

To the senior members, has USCIS ever missed their 5 month commitment?

Don't wait before the end of your term, send a letter to your congressman/senator before they screw you over.

Welcome Antwan&Yuli to this forum. We also have NOA1 date of July 20th but our petition was delivered to VSC on June 21st, so we are now at 5 months since delivery. I have called NVS on Nov. 4th to inquire on our case. I have since received a letter in response to my inquiry that looks like a standard form letter stating that our case was still being processed and I should get a notice within 60 days. Gee that did not help any! I am now preparing to contact my Congressman for his assistance. This long time for approval is wearing on our patience and very depressing!!!! We had planned to be together by Chrismas, looks like that may not happen now.

Please fill in your timeline so all July filers can have that data of the timeline info, Thanks Marcus & Abby

I-129F mailed to VSC June 18,2010.

I-129F delivered to VSC June 21,2010.

Waiting, waiting for NOA1.

July 12, 2010 VSC states petition was rejected (no reason given) and was being returned however they did give me the case #.

Waiting, waiting, did not get returned petition instead got hard copy of NOA1 in mail on July 26, 2010 with

different case # (very strange!!!) I have not seen anything like this on VJ.

NOA1 dated July 20, 2010 (way too long) 29 days since delivered.

Check cleared July 22, 2010.

Received NOA1 hard copy July 26, 2010.

"Touch" July 27, 2010.

"Touch" Oct. 3, 2010 Yeah!!!!, at least something.

YEEPEE!!!! Finally NOA2. Dec 30,2010 got cell text at 4:04pm, and email notice at 6:00pm that our petition has been approved.

Now for the rest of the process, should not be so long now!!!!!!

This long wait has been very stressful for both of us, now we can make more plans for the rest of our lives together.

NVC got our case on Jan 4, 2011 and was sent to the Embassy on Jan 6, 2011. Thank you Lord!!!

We now have our MNL case number!!!!

congrats to all who got their NOA2! your waiting finally ended. As for me, NOA1 is JULY 17,2010, the first and the last time the USCIS touched on my case was JULY 26, 2010. It's been 4 mos since the NOA1 but i'm still waiting in vain, from Aug-Nov, they never worked on my case, guess I need a miracle so i can make the USCIS people work on my case again...(sighs) I just hope God touches those people so that they will touch my case again :(

the processing time is 5 months, if they are within their 5 months then you have nothing to complain about. if you get yours before your 5 months is up, then consider yourself lucky, but unless you PASS 5 months, come on people, stop complaing, we are ALL in the same boat as you. you are not the first people to wait this long, in fact i know couples that have had to wait years to be together, and in the grand scheme of things, 5 months is nothing.

anyone who had done any research on visa approval would know this was a long process before they even embarked on it in the first place and yet everyone is acting like they are the only ones going through this and that it's some horrible injustice that they have to wait their turn like everyone else.

I don't think people are complaining as if they are the only ones. Even if you read and know that it will take up to 5 months, it can still be frustrating because you can't help but wonder why it takes 5 plus months for some and 3 months for others. So, I can understand the disappointment, even knowing that it may take 5 or more months. You are right, though; military families and missionaries have to wait even longer sometimes, so it's nice to put it in perspective. It's still hard to be away from your loved one, though, when you see other people all around with theirs. Prayer and talking to my fiancée are what get me through it.

This is all true, but I don't think it's appropriate or necessary to try to tell people they are not allowed to feel frustrated. If you've tracked this site at all, you will see that the service centers speed up and slow down unexpectedly and that is difficult to watch sometimes. Before you send your packet in, you see people receiving approvals in 2 months and then when it's your turn the service centers have hit a slow patch and it's back up at 5 months, all the while knowing it takes maybe a total of 15 minutes to look at a petition; that can be difficult. Nobody is acting like they're the only ones going through this. Everyone is allowed to be sad or lonely or frustrated. It's difficult to try to do the right thing and be legit and be given the run-around for an uncertain amount of time. I notice that your country is listed as the UK, which means that your consulate will also take a few months to go through; as a Canadian going through Montreal, I'm in the same boat, and on top of a long NOA2 wait being irritating in the first place, it adds extra stress because I know I'll likely have another 4-6 months with my embassy stage right after it. If the whole process, start to finish, took 5 months as you seem to be suggesting it does, I think it would be a lot easier to swallow.

I'm glad that you seem to be impervious to being frustrated or sad, but the rest of us are perfectly entitled to express those feelings. That's what these threads are for - support. If you have nothing to offer besides judgmental criticism and if everyone else's feelings bother you so much, I'm not sure why you're reading this forum, especially since this thread isn't even for your service center. I'm not saying you have to agree with anybody, but your snotty comment was unwarranted. People miss their loved ones and not everyone is as lucky as you to have an NOA2 in hand already.
