First question I-485: Family Name/ Given Name

First question of the I-485...(Family Name) what should I put?... her new married name (my name) or her maiden name?

One member suggested I put whatever name my wife wants to be known as. However she is in "system" as her maiden name and I am inclined to put that name.

Any suggestions?

Put whatever name she wants to use from now on. If she's taking your surname, put that.

Providing the requested A# should cover that. Also the question about name used on the I-94. And the copy of the marriage license that is part of the supporting documentation.

They aren't going to be confused by using her married name. How many times do you think they deal with adjustment of status for a newly married woman? This will not be the first.

You should read some other posts. This question is asked a lot.

It's not uncommon to change the last name, the USCIS knows most women change their last name to their spouse's when they get married.
