PCC Stamp in Passport

I am really confused right now about the Police Clearance Certificate. Based on another user's experience, I obtained the following PCCs for my wife 1) police report from the Superindendent Police Office and 2) a stamped PCC within my wife's passport issued by the RPO office

On the Reciprocity by Nation page it mentions that "All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police certificates from the local Passport Office."

I called into the NVC office today and they told me that for New Delhi they need a Police Clearance Certificate - they need the local Police office report. They told me they require a certificate issued by the local Passport Office (she was reading from the state.gov website that I quoted above).

I told her that I got a stamp within my wife's passport - and then she said she has never heard of that before. She told me what people send to them is a Certificate and that you have to go to the local passport office in order to get it. She repeated that they are not stamps and she seemed to imply they are not issued by the local police stations.

She obviously did not have all details about India - but I am really very confused at this point. I do not really know what document to get. Right now I am here sitting with a stamped PCC in my wife's passport and a police report from the Superintendent.

Did anyone else get a stamp in their passport as a PCC? Did anyone else get issued an actual certificate from the passport office?

After doing some research I realize that the main document to obtain is a Police Clearance Certificate. Apparently it comes as a bonafide certificate but there is also an accompanying stamp in the passport.

I have to determine what documents my wife received.

I think you are on the right track.

1. You get a letter from your police office, here in Mumbai we have to get it from CID office of Mumbai--> for which they contact all the police station you have lived under since birth to today. (Being India you have to personally go to all these police station and get a report and get it delivered to CID office)

2. You are right you get a stamp on your passport in and sametime they also issue a letter along with the stamp.

Here is what I did after getting those, sent the originals to NVC and also attached the copy of stamp from my passport along with other PCC's.

If they need to see it in original they can when I go for interview.

hope this helps.

Hey, My Husband recieved the same thing... the stamp in the passport accompanies the RPO PCC You should also have a certificate from this department... so this would be (1)

Now she would have to go to her local Police Station and get an PCC this would be (2)

If you like you can PM me and I will send you a copy of what both of my husbands PCC's look like including the stamp that was placed inside his passport

Hi!

My spouse has a brand new passport which is 4 months old. Do we still need a PCC? If yes then do we need the PCC from the regional passport office or from the local police station or both?

I dont have any letter stating that I need the PCC for the NVC to travel to USA. If I require a PCC (WITH THE FACT THAT MY PASSPORT IS LESS THEN 6 MONTHS OLD) do you think I will get it by filling up the PCC form or will they ask for a letter from NVC?

PLEASE INFORM.

I think for you the simple and the best solution would be also get a extra PCC from Mumbai police on the current address.

1. PCC from passport office (if passport is older then 6 months)

2. PCC from Gujarat police

3. PCC from Mumbai police

I think that should cover you well.
