They seem to have decided to do about a zillion K-1 interviews in August, and very few (it seems) CR1/IR1 interviews. On the one hand, it's sort of fair, since they seem to have done very few K-1 interviews in July...but it sucks for me (and maybe you, and others)...and it's not obvious to me *why* they go about things in this way. Why concentrate on one type of visa over another type for a whole MONTH? I don't get it.

I'd say our chances now for August are very slim. Not quite nil, but very slim :( :( :(

PS I also suspect that, while they're not totally on holiday for August, they're not really getting as much done as they might.

wondering if anyone out there has been given an August interview in Montreal Cr1? Or are they on holiday?!!!!!

Hey guys,

I'm doing the K-1 and had to wait almost 60 days for an interview date from Montreal.I know that some of you have been waiting longer than that, and I feel for you. I wish Montreal would get some more staff or something! It's frustrating to see people going through the Vancouver consulate and getting an interview date in 3 weeks...

Anyways, hope you guys hear something for August, good luck!

Exactly! Why should Canadians be processed so much more slowly than people from other countries? And how were we ever supposed to anticipate this problem back when we first started the I-130 process? I mean, sure, we knew that USCIS would be slow...but what reasonable person would *ever* expect that Canadians would have special problems/ unreasonable delays when it comes to this final (consular) stage for US immigration!! We're wasting half our lives (ok, I'm exaggerating a bit) waiting on a ten-minute interview!!!

My case was complete 6/4 and I'm still waiting to hear anything. SOOO frustrated, especially when you see a bunch of CR-1s from other countries who were complete the same time and have already had their interviews!

My case was completed on May 20, 2010. Still waiting for an interview date for Montreal . . . I agree with "mtlgato" . . . chances of us getting an August interview date are practically nil right now . . . I am hoping to get a date for September then . . . please, please, please. October would be unbearable, agree? :(

For me, a late October date would actually be a lot better than a Sept. date. By late October, my baby might be 4 weeks old and we could probably manage to get there. In Sept., I'll be too pregnant to travel. But, w/ a "case complete date" of May 12, I figure I probably will get a Sept. date.

If you get Oct. and I get Sept., we should trade! If only such a thing were possible...

Good luck!!!

Thanks for the reply, C.

And Good Luck!! I really wish you all the best with everything . . . hope the the timing works out for you.

Is your husband planning on attending the interview with you? I think it is better to have the spouse there, but my husband doesn't think it is necessary . . . but I think it would look better . . . as proof of relationship . . . :(

My husband is planning to attend the interview with me, but I actually don't think that (for Canadians) the presence or absence of the spouse is very important.

Mine wants to come because: 1) I'm either going to be 8 months (or so) pregnant, or I'm going to be there with a little baby. Either way, he wants to be there to help; 2) We have friends in Montreal anyway, and we do like to visit there. He's always had a good time in the past when we've visited that city, so he kind of wants to make a mini vacation of it (baby/ pregnancy permitting). I actually lived there for about 12 years, so I know it well.

But I do think you'll be fine if your spouse can't/ won't accompany you.
