How long does it take to get oath letter?

Ok so after many months of BS I find out that I am approved for citizenship on 6/23/10. I called USCIS today and found out that I was placed in que for my oath on 7/12. I was informed that it is all computer generated. I explained to the officer that we only have a couple of oaths a year in my area. The next one is September 17th and November 19th. She figured that it would be September. So my question is how long did it take from the time you were approved to receive your oath letter?

10/26/09 Sent application to Lewisville TX.

10/27/09 Rec'd Application signed by B. Conteh

10/29/09 Check cashed

11/02/09 Rec'd NOA date showing 10/29/09

11/09/09 Rec'd letter Bio Appointment

11/17/09 Bio Appointment 8am

11/20/09 Called FBI-Prints were sent back to USCIS same day.

12/03/09 Rec'd email from USCIS that the RFE was a mistake.

12/04/09 Rec'd email from USCIS saying that I have been transferred for an interview.

12/07/09 Rec'd letter for interview on 1/11/10 @11am in Fairfax, VA.

01/11/10 Interview completed. Passed test decision can't be made.

03/02/10 Contacted Senator's office...No reply yet!

03/04/10 Senator office called says can take up to 120 days.

04/12/10 Service request filed.

05/12/10 Contacted Senator's office again.

05/12/10 Told over the phone that I was approved. Believe it when I see it!

06/04/10 Senators office tells me the adjudicator who interviewed me thinks I have a criminal record. Send out all paper work showing no criminal record.

06/08/10 Leave for Canada

06/09/10 Get RCMP certificate showing no criminal record. Fax off to senators office.

06/23/10 Approved for Citizenship

06/24/10 USCIS contacts Senators office

06/28/10 Find out that I have been approved for citizenship and they are just waiting to schedule my oath.

07/12/10 Put in line for oath ceremony....wonder how long that will be!

08/18/10 Called USCIS confirmed they sent oath letter for 09/17/2010 at 9am.

09/17/10 Oath ceremony at 9am..... US Citizen!!!! Applied for passport.

Congratulations on your approval!! Just to answer your question....we were approved on the 30th of March and were told on that day that we would receive a letter regarding the oath cermony date within 4-6 weeks....there are only 3 oath ceremonies in our area and I knew that the next one was scheduled for th 16th of July. We waited and waited for the letter within that 6 week period, it did not arrive until last Thursday (one week before the oath ceremony date and well over the 4-6weeks we were told that it would arrive)So if you have the date for September I wouldn't expect your letter to arrive until one or two weeks before the date....in our experience anyway. And yes, today was the day! My two sons are now US citizens!

Lissa04-I don't know how long it takes from oath letter to oath ceremony (lol...I didn't get an oath letter)...But I do know that it varies depending on location and when the ceremonies are scheduled and if you are scheduled soon for such...

Nevertheless, congrats on being approved for citizenship. Good luck in getting an oath letter and an oath date too. And yes by all means, if you don't hear from them, definitely do inquire about such!

Cindaroo64-Congrats on your two sons becoming US Citizens! :star::dance: How was the oath ceremony for them? Can you post about that experience here on VJ too? Thanks. Did they have any problems with that oath ceremony, since they asked for accomodations for their interview? Good luck too with their journeys afterwards as US Citizens and good luck in dealing with the SSA for their other cases...

So my question is how long did it take from the time you were approved to receive your oath letter?

I have always been told that it is not the time from the interview but time before the oath that is measured. You will generally receive your oath letter 2-3 weeks before your oath regardless of when your interview took place, unless they give you an oath letter at the time of interview.
