Last night, Wadi and I stumbled onto a bunch of Criss Angel videos on You Tube. I had never seen him before, and I was absolutely dumbfounded. I actually was really creeped out by his acts. Now, I'm not one to believe in magic. I've spent lots of time discussing with Wadi (who was a big David Copperfield fan) the various possible tricks behind David Copperfield's stuff. But I am at a total loss with Criss Angel. He makes David Copperfield look just plain silly.

I now feel this burning need to see him in person. The only possible explanation that I have for some of his stunts is that the videos are edited. Has anyone seen Criss Angel "live"? Like when he goes up to people on the street and makes them levitate, or cuts himself in half. I'd love to hear an eye-witness account. Or else, any theories would be appreciated as well.

Yes, Mindfreak was on in NYC for a while, and he was always out front.

He is on the "People I'd Like To Hit In The Head With A Brick Most" list (along with Derek Acourah and Jack Black). He's smarmy and irritating and gives off a vibe which, in person, makes many people agree with me.

And his stuff's not that impressive in person.

Yeah, it was all little slight of hand BS like card tricks and tricks with coins and that kind of unimpressive bodge. I think the least impressive thing was his attitude-"Look at ME, I'm hot s***." Lots of flowy, flippy movements with his hands, he was about your average street magician, just with the self-promotion and attitude.

Derek Acourah......that guy is a freak!!! I just cannot stand him....

He ruins Most Haunted for me, thank God I found out today he's not on the show anymore-maybe I'll watch it now.

Yeah, those sorts of rinky-dinky things sound unimpressive to me, too. I just can't wrap my head around how he manages to tear people in half, levitate 100 ft in the air, and walk on water, even if his attitude sucks!

argh Chris Angle. My husband drives me mad with this guy. Every time there is a clip of him , he makes me watch it 'cause he is sooooo impressed by him. I can't stand it anymore.

Not sure. But the audience is always part of his act. Watch it that way. I'm not saying he isn't good at the art of illusion.
