I am somewhat into astronomy so I thought I would let you all know that there is a meteor shower this weekend. They are usually better in the winter, but since it is nice out-some of you may want to get out of the house & check it out.

Your best bet is to keep the glaring moon behind you, and look toward the northeast between midnight and dawn(you may see some earlier in the evening after the sun has set) when Earth is turning directly into the debris stream. Staying up until dawn should also give you a chance to see Mercury and Venus in the morning sky.

The moon will be very bright but you should still be able to see a few meteors.

The Perseid's usuallly are not so good here, but that'sdue to our cloud cover, so I am not complaining cause the desert is sucking up a lot of good rain..

The best meteor shower here is in November the Leonids.

I can't remember what year about 5 years back we saw a kicking show about 100 meteor a minute in November.. It was raining fire...
