Well yes I do AJ but it seems very little gets through to saywhat and it would probably just be a waste of time..

Where does Americas hard work ethics fit into saywhats easy money attitude. Are you going to aid him in trying to take that away from us too.

'lack of confidence' is right... risk aversion is a huge barrier.

thanks for the response.

As far as investments are concerned, the risk is easy to take once you have a good wad

I threw away a great career and a nice house to move into a council house for many years and train in another profession.

I could be sure that there was no risk to this so long as I did my part and yes that takes confidence and total determination - not necessarily intellect or talent.

Most people sit tight once they have an ok situation and that is danger time coz life comes to getcha later !

Hey all I need is enough money to buy my missile silo home in North Dakota. I plan on using the main shaft as a library, with maybe one of the lower levels for a few years of food. Maybe a prison at the very bottom, for storing people that I plan on eating after peak oil.

If there is one thing I learned from Cormac McCarthy, its the value of people.

Only fools and horses work

jeez you really swallowed what the capitalists told you was important.

The whole point of the industrial revolution was to produce more for less and less work.

I embrace that concept and extend it.

There is no dignity in working nights at Walmart doing shelf filling before some harridan from headquarters puts her face in yours and demands "DO YOU LOVE WALMART ?"

I worked putting handles on pans and unloading railroad trucks full of coal (by hand, with a shovel) - so I know about physical labour and how fine it is as a life style

No thanks - I will stick to the capitalist way.

When you think about it - I am actually taking from the super rich and the international banks -that can't be bad can it...

There's nothing wrong with making money through investments.

There is no dignity in working nights at Walmart doing shelf filling ...

Your love for this country is overwhelming.

Only fools and horses work

I'm not working I'm watching American idol...duh!

No, what I swallowed was my life experiences.

The whole point of the industrial revolution was to produce more for less and less work.

At what cost! Does mother nature really need to pay the price for all this?

Adults dont work at walmart because they have come to understand value of hard work...think about it for a second.

No thanks - I will stick to the capitalist way.

So what is that you actually contribute to the future of the world ?

I have told you what I do and what I think

You just seem to criticize and do your picky multi quotes without actually opening up to the public and saying what you have achieved and why your contribution is so much better

Do you make electric cars or artificial limbs ? Just what is that makes you holier than me ?

I need to know why your efforts are superior to mine

I work in construction. This has already been mentioned here at VJ several times.

I do multi quotes so that my words arn't construed into something other than what I meant. A common problem here at VJ.

No I keep simple minded people in line. ;)

I need to know why your efforts are superior to mine

I didnt say they were superior, what I took issue with was your easy money attitude.

This topic has changed quit a bit. It started out with me taking issue with your disgusting outlook on America and now we have this

Well I will summarise my opinion of America once more.

I see it as 'just another' developed economy with no right to claim a superior law or constitution or social structure. I can't see any huge differences between the US and other developed countries except the American jail system/executions perhaps. Even the supposed gun entitlement is severly retricted - in DC for instance. I am an internationalist but not a communist and barely a socialist.

I can't see why that is a disgusting attitude towards America ...

I think Americans who claim supremacy for something they can't quite express in specific terms are showing a 'disgusting attitude' (your words) to the countries of Europe and other 1st word countries for a start.

When I have US Citizenship I am not going to claim the US as better than other countries - what's wrong with equal.

What part of that don't you like ?

I pointed things out earlier that made the US unique and special. You chose to ignore it and move on. Every country is unique and what makes it unique needs to be recognized on a world stage.

You're back on the whole American jail thing again I see. Check out Jesse Pomeroy's story and tell me that you still think the 41 years he spent in solitary confinement was a injustice.

If only that was all you posted.

When I mentioned equal to Souske I was taking notice to the fact he left that statement open ended. I was having fun with the fact that he couldnt say that some countries are better than others and how he felt he had to defend his innocent statement.

What part of that don't you like ?

Well thanks to my "picky multi quotes" you already know that answer. ;)

I never said that there was, what I took issue with was the easy money attitude.

Whats the diff between making money through investments and not wanting to 'work' for it ?

I don't see how 'easy money' is bad but 'investment income' is good at the same time..

When you are in your 50's and working in the cold and the mud with arthritis and other industrial diseases, the attractions of investment income (money without having to go out and work) will become more and more apparent.

By then, the retirement age will be 70 - I kid you not

If buildings could be pre fabricated in factories and then erected by robots, would you miss manual or 'real' labour -- or enjoy the opportunity to pursue your interests

Many 'real world' workers never get to pension age because their bodies are worn out working for the boss man. Oil rig divers for instance - work better done by robots.
