I'm new here myself still, but from what i read the biggest thing is the letters of intent (which can be found in the "example forms" at the top of this page). signed, dated closer to the interview, and original. also the evidence of genuine and ongoing relationship: pictures, boarding passes for visit(s), receipts from their country, phone/chat logs, email logs and conversations.

i'm sure others will chime in. please correct me if i'm wrong. hope this helps.

Try looking at the information in the "Guides" section of visajourney located at the top tool bar. You didn't specify what type of visa you were applying for, so start there and you should find the information showing you what you'll need.

Check your state/county requirements for a marriage license...in Texas you must use a marriage certificate within 30 days of it being issued otherwise it's not valid, so I don't think that would be all that useful for the interview. If you already have invites and such drawn up couldn't hurt to take those though - I have read about others on here doing that.

Meeting the "intent" requirement of the I-129F is easy. The instructions require you to provide "original statements" from the petitioner and beneficiary. The letter of intent example given on this site serves that purpose well. You can provide additional evidence if you wish, but it's not necessary to get a petition approved. Proof of "intent" is also usually not much use at the interview stage because the consulate isn't likely to doubt you intend to get married. What they may doubt is your motives for getting married. If you want to provide evidence that will help at the interview then it would probably be better to focus on things that help demonstrate a bona fide relationship.

I don't know about your state, but mine requires both parties to be present and show identification in order to apply for a marriage license. Also, a marriage license in my state must be used within 90 days of being issued. If I could have gotten my fiancee to the US on a visitor's visa and had her go to the courthouse with me to get a marriage license so that I could submit a copy of it with the petition, it would have expired long before she got the visa. In addition, the US consulate in her country would have questioned whether the marriage license meant we'd already gotten married, and were therefore not eligible for a fiancee visa.

You have no way of knowing for certain if and when your fiance will get a visa, so how can you possibly plan a firm date for the wedding and prepare wedding invitations? If you were a consular officer, would a printed wedding invitation convince you that the relationship was bona fide, or would it only convince you that the petitioner made a trip to the local printers office?

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!
