Felons Voting Illegally May Have Put Franken Over the Top in Minnesota, Study Finds

The six-month election recount that turned former "Saturday Night Live" comedian Al Franken into a U.S. senator may have been decided by convicted felons who voted illegally in Minnesota's Twin Cities.

That's the finding of an 18-month study conducted by Minnesota Majority, a conservative watchdog group, which found that at least 341 convicted felons in largely Democratic Minneapolis-St. Paul voted illegally in the 2008 Senate race between Franken, a Democrat, and his Republican opponent, then-incumbent Sen. Norm Coleman.

The final recount vote in the race, determined six months after Election Day, showed Franken beat Coleman by 312 votes -- fewer votes than the number of felons whose illegal ballots were counted, according to Minnesota Majority's newly released study, which matched publicly available conviction lists with voting records.

Furthermore, the report charges that efforts to get state and federal authorities to act on its findings have been "stonewalled."

"We aren't trying to change the result of the last election. That legally can't be done," said Dan McGrath, Minnesota Majority's executive director. "We are just trying to make sure the integrity of the next election isn't compromised."

Is anyone surprised?

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Come on. At least they were alive.

And only voted once.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

Why is it "appropriate"?

It was an election with an extremely narrow margin. Franken is able to control who decides to vote for him.

It was a slap at Franken. As if you didn't already know that. I hate his comedy and dislike his politics even more. He is a mean spirited self centered assh*le.

Yes, lets rely on Fox News reporting about a study conducted by Minnesota conservative group for a non-biased assessment. Whenever a Democrat wins, it's dead people or felons voting. Same ol', same ol' partisan hackery.

Outstate Politics has previously documented the campaign of Republican Secretary of State candidate, Dan Severson claiming that this election for him is to go after “liberals“, “leftists, and “ACORN“. It appears from recent footage that Severson has upped the rhetoric considerably and is now accusing current Minnesota Secretary of State, Mark Ritchie, of actually stealing the election for Al Franken.

Severson submits three pieces of unverified and unsubstantiated pieces of evidence to back up his claim but never does explain how Mark Ritchie was involved in each so as to actually “steal” the election:

“We had more ballots than actual people signing on the line for voting”

“Hundreds and hundreds of felons were voting”

“Only 28% of our military who were serving, who were fighting for our freedoms overseas were able to cast a vote that counted”

He does, however, provide the motive for why Mark Ritchie AND Lori Swanson allowed all of this to happen. It’s because of ACORN of course! The logic? Follow me here because it takes a couple leaps…

Because ACORN endorsed both Mark Ritchie AND Lori Swanson they engaged in a plot to allow people to vote twice, permit hundreds of felons to vote, and suppress the military vote but they only engaged in these activities enough to let Al Franken win by 225 votes.

No, they want to cast doubt on the legitimacy of Franken's win in the election. Assuming they did vote (Which is the fault of the election officials who allowed them to vote), they have no idea how they voted. But this article is implying that they voted for Fraken.
