don't be too upset yet guys, i STILL haven't received an email or text or even hardcopy mail, and my status on the website still says under review. the only reason i know i got approved was my lawyer is in cali and got the letter yesterday, and it had an approval date of the 17th, and when i called nvc it was there at around 8pm my time last night (had just gotten put in the system an hour before). so you guys could already be approved an not even know it yet.

Exactly. Not to mention while you're waiting for a hard copy in the mail, for all you know your case could already be at the NVC. JlovesA never received a status update or the NOA2, and she found out her case was at the NVC. Don't fret (even though I am the last one to talk).

See?! We have the same NOA2 date. A notification is only sent if they've updated your status online. Since they didn't do that for either of us, it wouldn't have generated an update which is why we didn't get them.

My case arrived at the NVC yesterday, which means yours probably did as well!

Talk to an operator (even though you have to hold for 20 minutes), the automated system won't have your case on file.

You can get the same information from the Department of State at 202 663-1225. As soon as the automated message comes on dial "1" and then "0". You can ask a Visa Specialist whether your case has been sent to NVC yet. If it has, they can give you your new case number; the number that you will have to use with the Embassy. You also have to wait; but the wait seems to be shorter than at NVC.

Hmm. I just tried this and all they did was send me to the NVC line. What should I ask to get the new case number? I spoke to NVC this morning and they confirmed they received it, but it hasn't yet been sent out so I'll try again tomorrow. If they confirm it's been sent, do they then give me the new number?

I'm pretty sure NVC assigns the new case number as soon as the case arrives, so they should have assigned it by now!

for what it's worth, it only took days between NVC and DOS to know the case number. I called on maybe the 3rd and DOS said they had sent Packet 3 as of Nov 1st... but wait, I needed my MTL number to ask.

Umm.... I think we got the MTL number from the letter NVC sent. Which arrived really quickly after NOA2! Less than a week, if I recall.

I wasn't able to reach NVC so I called DOS. I didn't have my case number (NVC letter didn't arrive until after the consulate already received our case) so I told them my USCIS receipt number and they told me when NVC received it and when they forwarded it to the Embassy.

My Immigration Journey:

K1: June 2010 - December 2010

AOS: April 2011 - June 2011

ROC: April 2013 - August 2013

Naturalization: March 2014 - August 2014
