This is really frustrating. I am starting to worry again since mine went to CSC. Anyway, I need some advice regarding my passport which is under my Maiden name while my I-130 and other forms, I used my married name. Do you think this would complicate things later on? I renewed my passport a month before we got married which was April 2010. I seems like paranoid after the rejection. I have fears that there would be another problem in our NOA2. Yeah, they sent hubby an e-mail apologizing about the rejection since they were having problems with their system. Sucks huh? Their mistakes in exchanged of a 1 month delay.

I liked your last quote, good one :-)

Transferring CSC is ok. Now it may be clogged, but it can speed up too in the future.

Did you specify your maiden name in the passport under "Other names used" on I-130. If yes, there is no issue. Otherwise, it might create an issue.

Some other people (RumbaBumba) also experienced the mistake from USCIS, it sucks! As soon as you get the receipt notice, call National Service# on the notice to make sure you have not lost your Priority Date which is USCIS received date of your initial application. The ground here is "USCIS Error".

Greetings July filers! I kept checking for a July thread and here it is.

I think/know I will be on here a lot in the future. This whole process scares me, especially reading some of the horror stories of people waiting years for their petitions to be approved.

I sent my CR1 on 7/7 and received my NOA1 via email on 7/19. I think that's pretty good...but my petition also went to CSC, so maybe that's not so good.

Anyhow good luck everyone, I'm sure we'll all get to know each other very well over the next 7 months.. :D

Hi Loto. Thank you so much. Yes, I did specify my maiden name on I-130. We already have the receipt notice and it stated July 28 as our priority date. And I checked on my portfolio at the egov.uscis.gov, the last update was 08/09/2010. I feel a little better now compare these past few weeks of sleepless nights and heavy heart.

I gathered so many encouraging quotes for hubby and for myself to bring hope and I'm pretty sure this would bring the same hope to everybody who are undergoing the same journey.

Godspeed

If I understood you well: you used your married name on all forms, but you have a passport with your maiden name on it and everyone still knows you by your maiden name? Hummm... I think you should have used the name that is on your passport coz legally if you haven't changed your documents, you cannot use another name. Let's say if you are "Smith" on your passport, you can just use "Smith" name till you apply for a new passport that says "Johnes". Then when you get a new passport with a new name, you can introduce yourself as Johnes. At least this is how it works in my country. I don't want to scare you, but do you have any legal document showing that after marriage your name changed? I think you better renew your passport again and get your married name on it, coz anyways you haven't sent uscis any copy of your old passport with maiden name yet, right?

well, now you are married, so you have to have a passport stating your new name and then if uscis asks for some clarification, you can show them your passport copy with a new name. It would be worse if you write your new name on documents but can't prove it is your name, coz all your documents show some other name [old name].

Thanks

skynaut,

I felt CSC clogging based on March filers' thread here in VJ, more applications receipt in CSC compared to VSC (http://dashboard.uscis.gov/) etc.

Yup, I had an old I-130 file in VSC for the same beneficiary (my wife). She had a green card (CR1) that was filed based on I-130 petition in Dec 2007. She was here in the U.S for over a year in this CR1. Then went back to India and she surrendered it in the consulate in India since it was going to expire (Conditional GC will expire in 2 years and you need to renew it for another 10 years). Now she wants to come back to the U.S, but there is no visa. So, we started this I-130 process again. This time it is IR1 (10 year GC) since marriage is more than 2 years now.

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that!! what a waste of your saving to the USCIS!!! well, since you went through this before it should be faster this time around.

As for the CSC, I look at this differently. California usually handles more applications than any other State. Because it is the most populous State and the USCIS in California has more staff than other jurisdictions around the country. So comparing the stats listed in VJ, I actually realized that CSC handles cases faster than other SC. I have yet to see a case approved by let's say VSC in 90 days or less. CSC has many applications approved quicker. So VSC could have less pending apps while the number of Immigration Officers assigned to these cases is much less compared to CSC. So, VSC could actually be slower than CSC even though the number of pending cases is much smaller. See my point?

Anyway, I wish all of us here specially the July filers a quick and swift approval!!

Have a nice weekend!!!

PS: how frustrating it is to have to go through this!!!!!! :)
