I'm extremely confused and I read few but different things on this subject, also after reading the instructions I am not sure whether I should do it or not.

I arrived here on a B1/B2 visa that is now expired (it expired a few days ago). I want to know whether I should or should not file the I-485 A

Also I want to know which option should I select when applying for the I-485 in Part 2.

Don't know about the i-485 A. I don't think you need it, but I'm not sure.

Hopefully someone else will come along..

Part 2, you select 'a'.

NO you do not need to file an I-485A, that form is for persons that were in the USA during a set amnesty period a while back who were allowed to adjust status based on living in the USA before that date.

You need to file an I-485, and an I-130 to adjust status. The overstay will be forgiven.

Note if overstay is more than 6 months, then DO NOT attempt to leave the USA while AOS is being processed, even with an AP document, they can and do BAR re-entry even with AP document.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.
