Visiting US while visa pending

I already booked my flight to visit my fiance in sept., but now we are sort of ondering whether I actually am allowed to visit the USA while my K-1 visa is pending. Would be such a waste and huge dissapointment.

We can find any information on the subject.

I'll still be working when getting back and have other stuff to be taken care of in the Netherlands, so I won't even be able to stay for too long. It's only going to be for 14 days.

Anyone any right info for us???

Short answer: yes. Make sure you have strong ties to your home country and bring proof of them just in case. A return ticket, lease or mortgage, letter from your job, and bills have all been suggested as acceptable examples of proof that you'll go home.

You may not even need it, they might not ask. Better to be prepared than to not!

I did it - but my case might be different to yours; depending on how far along the application process you are. Consider what information they have concerning you - it is reasonably late in the application process they get your passport number, and they really can't track you with anything else.

I just walked in on the Visa Waiver programme and didn't get a single question. However, I had the following documents;

i) A letter from my employer saying I was due back

ii) A letter from my landlord saying I was due back

iii) A sworn and witnessed statement from my fiancee that she wouldn't try to keep me

iv) One from her father

v) A letter from my Church's Priest that I had duties at the Church and was due back

vi) Winning smile
