Hi Everyone,

I have an off topic question for you. I'm a Canadian citizen I'm going to Marry the love of my life in August in Madison, WI. The wedding is in Wisconsin and then we will be moving back to Canada for my work. The reason I'm worried is because I have heard horror stories of Canadians not getting across the border to attend there own wedding. I have sufficient proof that I wil be soming back to Canada following the wedding (ie: lease agreement on house, and work contract) but I'm still worried I may miss my own wedding. I'n not too worried about coming back to Canada I have an immigration lawyer who is dealing with that part. Do you think I have anything to worry about as long as I have suffieicient proof that I will be returning to Canada. Thanks so much for your responses

Thread moved from Off Topic to the Canada Regional Forum as OP will definitely get better advice here

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Hi and congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

No one can tell you what will happen on the day, it is 100% up to the border guard that you end up with.

One thing you might want to add, to your proof of ties, is some documentation backing up the fact that you are going to apply for your wife to immigrate to Canada - a letter from the lawyer perhaps.

There are many Cdn folks who go to Vegas ,for example, to get married, but they're returning to Canada. Your situation is only slightly different in that you're marrying an American and returning.

Having proper ties and being honest is the best policy at the border. You're obviously not showing up with a Uhaul when you're only going for a short trip...right?

Good luck.
