But keep in mind that the employer holds the work visa.. not so easy to switch jobs as the work permit/visa is to work for that particular employer..

Depending on where in VN you're trying to look for jobs. If in Saigon, try to Central Post Office. They ALWAYS hire new workers. The job is quite simple and has decent pay surprisingly. Just stick your tongue out so postal customers can wet their stamps before putting on the envelopes. The VNese gov't can no longer afford to provide free water for this service. My friend told me the starting pay rate was around $15/hour with FULL benefits like paid vacation and major holidays pay. They require formal uniform though. So plan to wear suits, no T-shirts and jeans.

Just remember, life over there in VN is NOT real! Your money will be worth a LOT less once you get back over here. Back to reality, cowboy!

Teaching is the easiest and probably best paid job here, most places want a 4 year degree of anysort, and a TESOL or CELTA to work, and they really dont like the online TESOL courses. The schools DO NOT hold your work visa, what Scott said is incorrect, it is on/in YOUR passport, I think he was meaning the "Work Permit" not the Visa, most companies now only offer to pay or reimburse you once YOU get the work permit, but this also means it is YOUR work permit, not the companies, so it can go with you, it all depends on how you go about getting it, some schools will try to hold your work permit so you cannot simply go to a new company and work, but these are usually the ones that do EVERYTHING for YOU, not making you go out and get your own, so what I would say is if you get your own, go and get a certified copy of it, and this way you will still have one even if the school tries to keep it if you go and work elsewhere. I would say if you are wanting to get a Celta/TESOL to go for the CELTA, I choose the TESOL through TEFL international, and I am 2 weeks into the course, and I think it is a very unprofessional place, and if you take the CELTA then ILA who offers it will pay you the entire fee back once you complete either a 1 year or 2 year contract, and they do try to hire all their own graduates before they outsource help. If you want more info, feel free to PM me anytime, another person that would be very well versed in teaching here is Mr. Saigon as he is also a current teacher here as well. Jerome

oh cool, yeah id love ur help. Im not done with college tho, im in university of pheonix online. So id just continue it there. Would that be a prob?

The only problem is shipping your books, it is expensive, I am taking online classes from Ashford University here, and what I did was got ahead 6 classes, and once I get down to two books I plan on ordering another 4 to 6 it might be more expensive at once, but at least you will save time and some money in the long run, just have to make sure that they dont change the book on you, so I would not order more than 6 max, after all that is usually 7 1/2 months worth of books. Other options are to have them sent stateside, and then have family send DHL it is a bit cheaper sometimes a bit more just call the bookstore and see what it would cost to ship 6 books and ask for their weight, then call DHL and check the difference, but remember if the university ships them and they dont make it they should be covered, and replaced, but if your family ships them, then it would be up to DHL IF you put insurance on them to replace them. Good luck in your decision. Jerome
