Before receiving the consulate letter. My fiancé called the consulate from mexico about a week before we had the papers and all they said was that they sent it. When I called NVC before that all they told me was that the consulate received it. What I can tell you is about a month after receiving notice that it was sent to CDJ I did receive our invitation letter at my residence in the US. My fiancé's never arrived.

My now husband never even received his copy and neither did I which was strange. We just went up there and asked for it once we got the green light that it had been sent out. Good luck!

Just in case we don't receive our letter before we go to the consulate, can you tell me a little bit about how to get the letter once we get there? I understand that there is a separate window that we go to or something like that so that we don't have to wait in the general line. What time would you recommend that we get in line in the morning, and do you think it might be possible to get the letter early enough to still get through the medical exam on the same day? Thanks!

You go to the information window and get there as early as possible like at 7... to be honest I can't remember what time they open the window, but if you are one of the first in line then you can definitely make it to the medical. My husband did not make it to the medical that day because there was a lot of people ahead of him... but he was able to get the letter and go the next day... the guards should direct you to the right line just make sure you tell them you need to go to the information window for your invitation... If you have any more questions just let me know... I will try to answer the best I can...

My fiance got her K1 visa approved. We picked up the DHL packet today. However, the taxi driver told us that for K1 visas we had to get her visa stamped at the border crossing with mexico. Is that true? I thought it was any US point of entry.

Hey, congrats! My fiance picked up his visa from DHL on Sept 23rd too. :) No, it is not true that you have to go get a stamp at the border. The taxi drivers there tell you that so they can charge you quite a bit of money to drive you there. If you were to go get it stamped at the border there, that is her entry and she has to stay. She has six months to enter the US, at any POE.

Thanks. The wording of the sheet that came in the DHL package is a little confusing. It states "you may cross at any border you wish". Then the cab driver started saying that I had to get it stamped at the border which caused me to doubt myself. Also, the letter does not state "Point of entry" it states "Border". I am flying from Mazatlan to Phoenix and from Phoenix to Chicago. So, she should not have a problem with the visa in Phoenix, right?

Nope, no problem. If Phoenix is the first POE for her, then she will have to do her immigration there. Allow plenty of time between your connecting flights because of that.
