I received our letter from NVC June 15th, 2010 and we are waiting for my fiancé to receive the open appointment letter and instructions from Ciudad Juarez. I have a few questions maybe someone could answer for me.

Since our original application my finance left her job and moved. She is currently unemployed and is living with her parents until she makes the move with me. Do I need to provide any information to the consulate about these changes?

Thanks,

Hello , im waiting my letter from juarez too!! I dont think that you have to tell them , just if you want they send that notification to her parents house , also i think its ok if she is not working the only thing that matters now is that you are working and have the support for her , affidavit and all that . .

So dont worry , just be sure she get the letter , you can start working in all the document for get there , believe me is a lot!

I make one form yesterday online and take me 4 hours to get because the embassy site was bad . .

 good luck for all of us!!!!

Will the consulate send the invitation letter via email to us as well? And will they send one to the beneficiary AND the petitioner, or just the beneficiary?

I ask because I am concerned that the mail delivery to my fiance is spotty and that he might not receive the hard copy of his invitation letter. If we get a copy emailed that we can bring, or if I receive an "official" hard copy in the mail that I can take to our interview, no problem. I know also that we can get a copy of the invitation letter once we get to the consulate, I just think that would be a pain.

Any knowledge about this that anyone could impart would be greatly appreciated!

They didn't email me anything but I did receive the invitation letter by mail at my address in the US though. My fiancé has not yet received it but we are going with my letter. Starting the process Monday :)

Hi. The CDJ consulate will send the open invitation letter to both the petitioner and the beneficiary by regular mail only. You can use either copy to get into the medical and the consulate because the only difference between the two is the mailing address. The beneficiary's name and case number appear on both, and those are the important things. Mail in Mexico can be slow, so don't worry if you don't have the beneficiary's copy.

As far as the new address goes, just make sure you put that on the DS-156 for your current address in Mexico. And, as Keka said, the petitioner's financial status is the important one. If the beneficiary is unemployed, it's not an issue.

For the forms and instructions, go here:

http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/fianceforms.html

Everything you need to know is there. We did this a month ago, so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Good luck!

My now husband never even received his copy and neither did I which was strange. We just went up there and asked for it once we got the green light that it had been sent out. Good luck!

How do I find out if my visa petition was received at Cuidad Juarez? The NVC said it was mailed 07/26/2010.

There is a number you can call to find out, but it cost 7 dollars a call. If NVC said it was sent then it was sent. I would just keep calling NVC for free information. Once NVC tells you that an open invitation has been sent then you have the green light to go to Juarez. Like I said I never received the invitation, but NVC told me it had been sent so we went ahead and headed to Juarez.

I did try calling the $7 telephone number, but it was confusing and none of the options applied. I did not know that the NVC could tell me if Cuidad Juarez received it. I want to be in Cuidad Juarez on 09/20/10. That is why I am trying to keep track of my petition.

NVC call tell you once Juarez has sent out the invitation letter and then you can just go... Don't waste your money with Juarez because sometimes they even lie... Once NVC told me that juarez had sent out Packet 3 (also known as the invitation letter) I called Juarez and they said no they hadn't sent it, so I called again to make sure and still nothing... I then called NVC and they confirmed that Juarez had sent it. Well I called Juarez the very next day and they said that in fact they had sent it two days prior to by call so 21 dollars later all they did was confirm what NVC told me... so the best thing to do is call the free NVC number and go by what they say.. you will waste enough money in Juarez so there is really no point in calling them.

Hope that helps if you have any questions just let know...

Thank you very much. I will do that. I will give them a call this Friday.

I dont know who you guys spoke to at the NVC but they were very nice but not helpful to me at all. I called twice. They informed me that on july20th my petition left on DHL to CDJ. They also told me once the petition leaves the states they get no further updating from the consulate, that they have no idea when CDJ will send me out the open appointment letter. She also gave me a number to the washington Visa main number just in case -_- I kno my papers have to be in CDJ i feel like i should be getting the letter soon, i do not want to risk my fiances safety and money by sending him there without the actual invitation. By the 15th if i recieve nothing i will be calling Juarez. The lady at NVC told me to relax its still early with CDJ closing those few days and only counting business days they have probably only had my petition for a week.

I called the US Dept. of State twice today. One lady told me that it was mailed from the NVC to Cuidad Juarez on 07/26/10. Since it has been three weeks from the date it was mailed to Cuidad Juarez, I called again and the lady told me the same thing. I asked her if Cuidad Juarez received the K1 petition yet and she told me no, that it was mailed on 07/26/10. I told her it has been three weeks and what shipping method did they use. She told me it could take several months and to call the NVC. #######!!!! What is this person talking about???? So, I called the NVC and she also just gave me the same information that it was mailed out and she told me to call Cuidad Juarez at 011-52-477-7070 to find out if they have it. I am frustrated with all this run around. Does the NVC give you the DHL number when the visa petition is sent to Cuidad Juarez? I am concerned because I booked a flight to arrive at Cuidad Juarez on 09/19/2010. I thought this would be enough time from what I have read on this forum.
