Well... I'm one of the last of the July filers. Our interview is tomorrow. I'm losing my mind because our computer crapped out and I can't access our photos to print as evidence. Also, my lazy husband didnt bother to make copies of or phone records. Grrrr. I feel we have sufficient evidence, but I dont feel complete without all of our pics and phone docs. My hubby Is telling me to relax and not to worry and I am getting so worked up.... so here I am venting.. to people who understand. I've invested so much effort in this whole process.. so much patience.. so much frustration... this Interview is so Important and what I/we have been waiting for. Grrrr.... I just wish he could be more understanding and supportive!!!! Of course he doesnt "get it" cuz he is not the one who has had to tear his hair out, and spent hours working on the application, or on the phone, or at infopass...grrrrr

I hear ya sister ;) The hubby doesn't get it... it's good to have a friend or two who's been through the same or a similar situation and vent.. or just vent on VJ :D

I'm so glad to hear you're finally interviewing! Don't worry too much about having 100 pictures and phone records with you. What they are really interested in are the joint accounts, leases, insurance, etc. - if you have time, stop by a drug store and get some pictures printed out there...

Anyways, the best of luck to both of you!!!  Let us know how it went!

Approved!! Interview was a breeze.. Hubby was right, there was no need to fret. IO didn't even look at the nice evidence package I put together. I even ran out to the drugstore to print off more pics this a.m.

IO asked Hubby to write down the names of our pets. I had to answer.. was a comical moment. IO asked what we did last weekend. we were approved quickly... I think it was fairly obvious we are a legit couple too.

GC will arrive in 1-2 weeks, I94 was taken.. no stamps, no approval letter.

After 2 years and removal of conditions, we wait another 1 year and.I can apply for ciizenship. Hooray!!! ThAnks so much to everyone on VJ for your advice and support. Such a relief that its finally over.. for now. see you back here In 2 years! :) good luck to those still waiting!

Did they take away your AP and EAD... Cause we really want to travel if we get approved, but we want to do it sooner than 2 weeks. What other questions did they ask?

They did not take away AP or EAD. Other questions asked:

If I had been to the States before and how I had entered.

When I entered and on what visa.

Hubbys birthdate, contact phone numbers and address.

That's it :)

Well our interview was yesterday and I have to say, it was really different than most of the other experiences I've seen lots of people have.

We got there 30 minutes early, went through security, got our restaurant buzzer, and were called back within 15 minutes. Our IO was really really serious- I smiled at her when we walked up to be taken back, and she just looked at me... goodness gracious, this is Texas! Anyway, we got back there, took our oath, and asked for our passports, photo identifications, and social security cards. Then she immediately started a rapid fire questioning of our personal data (full name, birthday, address, place of birth, etc.). When that was over, DH was asked a bunch of questions related to a desire to commit terrorism and such, so that was serious and intense. Then she asked us a few general questions about our application, if we hired a lawyer, if DH had used his AP, how we met, etc. Also wanted to see some original paperwork to verify it was the same as the the certified copies I had submitted with the application (marriage certificate, birth certificates, etc.). After it looked like she'd gone through most of the paperwork she had in front of her, she said "can I see any bank statements or other supporting evidence that you think might help your case?"

This was the point when I realized that when I thought I was over preparing for this interview, I really really wasn't. I know most people I've talked to didn't even get asked for much extra paperwork, if any at all. So I was just really relieved that I put as much energy into prepping for the interview as I did. I gave her copies of credit card statements with both our names on it, water bills, electric bills, our lease agreement for our house, copies of the certificate we received for our premarital counseling course, copy of a check from our checking account with both our names on it, photocopy of our car insurance with both our names and vehicles listed, photocopy of DH's work benefits plan listing me as a spouse (showing that we pay for coverage for both of us and that we pay for life insurance through his work with me as the beneficiary), and even a photocopy of our dog's registration papers with DH as owner and my name as co-owner. To top it all off, I printed off 40 pictures from our lives together for the past 5 years- she looked through all of them and kept about half, mainly birthdays, family outings, holidays, wedding pictures, engagement photo session pictures, pictures of the proposal, college graduation, etc. She labeled the back of each one telling what significance it had (family, friends, Christmas, wedding, proposal, etc.).

After all of this, she told us that she likes to do a "final review" after the interview to make sure she's not missing anything. When that's over, she'll either contact us via mail if she needs more documentation or something, or she'll make a decision. She told us she didn't currently foresee needing a second interview (thank goodness!), and that we'd be hearing of her decision either way in about a week. "If" we are approved, DH will get his GC in the mail in 4-6 weeks.

We left not sure how to feel. I mean, I'm not at all worried about not being approved because we really really are legitimately married. I just felt like most people had an idea of how they stood from the IO by the end of the interview and some people saw the stamp of approval! Who knows. Our IO was just really really thorough, but we have nothing to hide so I guess it doesn't matter... I just wanted to be able to say we were approved!

Approved!!! We arrived on time and were called about 20 minutes later. The IO that interviewed us was very nice. He asked us for identification and then any supporting evidence we had. We showed him bank statements, checks, credit cards, letters from friends and family, photos, and our sons BC.. He said well the BC really helps prove your case. He asked us how we met, our current address, he asked my husband what his mother and fathers names were, when we got married, last date of entry, and where he entered at.

They even stamped his passport because we plan on traveling out of the country tomorrow... I am so happy it is finally over... Well for now

I feel like the individual IO's and local offices have very differing policies and ways of conducting interviews and it just depends who you get and where you are to know if you were approved or not. We had a similar experience, although in some ways not as intense, but certainly more than others. We were told we needed a final review but were recommended for approval and ended up getting the approval the next day.

England.gif England!

And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times

It's you, it's you, You make me sing.

You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.
