Was just recently approved for my Green Card after my interview. I currently have a SSN Card which I had since 2002 when I was a student on an F-1 visa. On the SSN Card, it says "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH AUTHORIZATION FROM INS". My question is,for those that have recently been approved their Green Card and just got their SSN Card, does your card say on it "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH AUTHORIZATION FROM INS"? Since I will now be a on a Green Card, do I need to go get another SSN card that won't say on it "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH AUTHORIZATION FROM INS" or will I always have that written on my SSN card?

You can go into SS with your green card and get an ordinary SS card that doesn't say anything.

BULLWINKLE.... Gosh i hope we'll receive our biometrics letter soon. It makes no sense. It's been 12 weeks of waiting today. I'm so sick of all this. I've got monster student loans back home that i need to pay back soon, I can't go on without a job for much longer. I DON'T LIKE USCIS.

This might be helpful to those of you that filed EAD and/or AP more than 90 days ago, and have not received them. I called the 1-800 number, and they said once 90 days have passed and you have not received AP and/or EAD you can file an expedited request, and you should get answers right away. Even if it is because you have not received your bio appointment notice. Hope it helps! I am at 60 days, and I haven't received bio appointment notice, nor EAD, nor AP. Have to wait for another 30 days to call...

well.. i went for my SECOND Infopass today... as luck would have it, I had the same agent as my previous Infopass. I was hoping for someone new...

Anyway.. last time she said she was unable to put in a request for biometrics, she was unable to print me a letter.. basically her hands were tied and there was nothing she could do for me. Grrr. THIS TIME, she was ABLE to go into the system to see if she could generate a biometrics appt for me. Of course, I was denied - she printed me a piece of paper that said "NOTE: This applicant was not successfully scheduled. No capacity currently exists at XDA USCIS DALLAS . The applicant(s) have been stored for later scheduling."

Again, I was told that I am not permitted to do walk-in without a letter. I am not permitted to schedule out of State or another city. All I have to do is wait. Apparently this agent is a manager and also works at the ASC and "we never let anyone in the doors without a letter".

As well, my I-485 is sitting at NBC and hasn't even been looked at or scheduled for interview. I am at a complete stand still. This is when the waterworks came I couldn't control myself - I had questions about my AP and I was told that I am not permitted to travel without the biometrics complete. Basically, my AP is not valid without biometrics. I explained that I have family emergencies - on top of all the bullsh*t going on back home, I've now found out that my 10 yr old niece is scheduled for a biopsy I NEED to get home. The agent just told me that if I leave, I forfeit my application and "waste all that money that was paid". I can't believe this position that I am in. I asked if there was anyone else I could speak with. She named off some position.. "Deputy something?" I don't remember.. It didn't really compute in my head. I asked how I can speak with them. She said they are never there. Of course! She said he is always busy and at meetings. Fu*k that sh*t! Of course they are always at meetings! Of course they are not accessible. I am so mad

I REALLY HOPE that the Senator can do something for me... I called the office yesterday and her assistant was totally useless and vague. I fuc*ing hate dealing with all this bureaucracy bullsh*t.

Oh - to top it off.... I ended up driving to the ASC to see what the deal was... I got there and the office at Northwest Highway was vacant. I had no idea that the office had moved! The new location is really close to my house and near to my husband's office. I pass by it every morning, without even knowing!

I really hope this gets sorted soon.. I'm seriously at the point of heartache, defeat and depression.

I had said to the agent that this is my one chance to speak with someone (her) face to face and I had a list of questions.. I was going to maximize my appointment. She says "Just cuz we're in person doesn't mean you're gonna get what you want".

Why do people have to be so rude?!

I don't see how the AP cannot be used though, it doesn't have anything to do with the bio appointment.

Congrats to you and your husband! Are you still going to Infopass?... I guess not. I told the agent that I know of 2 applicants who filed after me and got their bio appts complete within a month or so of sending in their application packet (another thread on the forum).. anyway.. she said to me "yup, that's just the way it works sometimes. or if you are military, it's expedited". GRRRRRRRR

Keep your fingers crossed for me.. I hope that I get my bio letter soon!

I asked my husband this morning if he will join the army so that they will expedite my case.. LOL!.... he said "does the Texas National Guard count?"

BULLWINKLE... Wow, I wish we were not living in Dallas now. What a mess, people at USCIS are so useless and always do their job wrong. I'm so sorry for you AND for me that your infopass didn't do much! And i didn't know the AP is useless without Biometrics done, why would they approve the AP without the biometrics then?? Doesn't make sense. Grrrrrrrrr

Wow, I can't believe what I read - I've been real busy working the last few days and now this.

Bullwinkle, your situation is so effed up! I feel for ya!! Usually I try not to complain too much but in your case, USCIS are being some real fvckwarts!! I personally thought that you could use the AP without your biometrics done too - why would they issue it separately? Besides, the biometrics is specifically for EAD and AOS, not AP.

I'm hoping and praying for you to be better off soon.. this situation is unacceptable - and as always with the gov, there's nothing you can do
