No, actually they won't have to pay the fee all over again because they already filed I-485 just recently.

Check out the instructions on form I-131

As for a speedy process.. on form I-131 you may want to put down a date early October for you to leave the country and include a letter explaining why you would need an 'emergency' AP. It says that you can only put down an expedite request for Refugee Travel Doc and Reentry Permits but I would try it anyways. It won't guarantee any faster processing but go ahead and try!

Good luck

I'm looking at this I-131 attempting to complete the form. What is the difference between Advanced Parole and Re-entry Permit? Which one do I apply for?

PART 5 - Complete Only if Applying for a Reentry Permit

skip to Part 7 if you are applying for an Advance Parole Document....

You will be applying for an AP since you are still in the US and will (hopefully) receive it while in the US as well..

Reentry Permit is for those who have left the country e.g. with Green Card and stayed abroad for over 6 months - then, the reentry permit is mailed to your location abroad.. without the Green Card however, this does not apply to you. So yeah go ahead and skip to P7 :)

Wow, so many good news, congrats to all for your AOS interviews, EAD, AP, etc..!!

I'm trying not to come on VJ too much these days, i'm trying to do everything i can do to help me be patient about this whole process.. It's helping so far. I still haven't received my biometrics letter, it's been 8 weeks today since NOA1.

At least, i received my AP today in the mail. But the only thing i want right now is to work, i don't care about my AP! Anyways, i hope everybody who's still waiting on their biometric letter gets it soon.

Good luck to all who have their AOS interview soon!!

I am kind of in the same boat...

So frustrating! I haven't received the bio appointment notice! And my EAD and AP cases are still unavailable on the website, and over the phone all they can say is that my EAD and AP cases were received on Aug 17. That's all the case status they can tell me.

Have you tried or do you know if anyone ever tried going physically to the ASC with their NOA1 AOS (and EAD NOA1) in hand and tried to get them to send you the bio appointment notice? Over the phone they cannot even say if they have sent it. They don't have that information. They could have sent it a while back, and could have been lost in the mail, and how do I know? I called last week and they opened a service request. I got an email with the service request response, and all it said is that USCIS had forwarded the ASC my case info so that the ASC could schedule my bio appointment notice. Like if the ASC was not part of USCIS...btw my USCIS office and ASC is Houston, TX.

Good luck!

I've never really heard of anybody being able to have their fingerprints done without the biometrics appointment letter, but i could be wrong. I've been waiting since July 22nd, you've only been waiting since mid-august.. You still have one month of waiting before you can say you're in the same boat as me.. Seriously, for now, just put in a service request by calling USCIS, or make an Infopass appointment. I know it's not gonna give you the appointment letter already, but it's kind of all you can do for now. Dallas (my ASC) is very busy, which is why i have been waiting for more than 2 months. It's probably the case with your ASC. And some other people had their case not showing online either, but if you received your NOAs by mail, you're good to go, i wouldn't stress too much if i were you.

01/12/2011: GreenCard approved!!!!

Green card expiration date: 01/05/2013
Sent ROC package to VSC: 11/16/2012
NOA1: 11/20/2012

Approval: 04/29/2013!!!!

It's nearing a month since our AOS has been touched. I keep telling myself that it doesn't really matter because Mathew has his AP and EAD until his GC arrives, but it's extremely frustrating to not have at least a touch. Booh.

I can't believe some of you all still don't have your appointment letters yet. They really need to do something about the system they're using because it's really not fair. If they've got too many they need to ship them off to another ASC to be processed for the bio letters. But that's what would happen in a perfect world, and this is USCIS we're talking about. They will never fix anything, even if it's broken.

Hello July 2010 AOS Filers

Congratulating everyone who has their greencard approved :dance: . I called USCIS today (USCIS is on my speed dial :yes: .I try to harass them at least once a week). I received another duplicated email/update on the uscis.gov website that my husband's EAD was approved yesterday. In fact that actually meant that it was mailed out from the NBC (National Benefits Center in Missouri). The IO also told me that my AP was approved September 22nd and its valid for 1 year. I asked her about my husband's greencard interview, and she said that my husband is on the waiting list for an interview date. So hopefully by October/November we will have our interview. Good luck to everyone else.

My husband got the same "updated" email saying that his EAD card was sent for production (it went straight from initial review to card production) last night and then today the case was touched so hopefully it means that it is in the mail. We have our green card interview on Monday so the EAD will become invalid (if we even get it before that date). Hoping for success at the interview.

Right now I am trying to get all the documents together for our interview in Detroit. Wow, need to do a little research into what is evidence of U.S. citizenship. Isn't that just the U.S. citizen's birth certificate? What other proof of U.S. citizenship do I need?
