Wow, so many good news, congrats to all for your AOS interviews, EAD, AP, etc..!!

I'm trying not to come on VJ too much these days, i'm trying to do everything i can do to help me be patient about this whole process.. It's helping so far. I still haven't received my biometrics letter, it's been 8 weeks today since NOA1.

At least, i received my AP today in the mail. But the only thing i want right now is to work, i don't care about my AP! Anyways, i hope everybody who's still waiting on their biometric letter gets it soon.

Good luck to all who have their AOS interview soon!!

A&B... I feel you on that...no bio letter for me either. It's tough. I soooo want to be able to work. It's really bringing my spirits down.

Now that everyone is getting their approvals, it's even more difficult to come on here. Of course, I'm happy for y'all... it just makes it harder for those of us still waiting all the way at the back of the line.

Anyway, I have my infopass appt tomorrow so hopefully I can shed some light for ya! Is there anything specific any of you Dallas folk wanted me to ask or find out???

AandB, BULLWINKLE, you guys are not alone! Unfortunately for me  And I'm not even in Dallas..

I called customer service today and got escalated to an Immigration Officer. Besides that e-mail on 09/07 that everything is on hold, I never received anything, so I wanted to make sure it's not about mail not getting to me.

It seems that the e-mail was all I was gonna get regarding the Service Request I put in (I know some people received both, e-mail and regular mail), and I'm still not assigned a biometrics appointment. The nice officer I spoke to couldn't tell me why, but she asked me to wait a little bit longer, so I'll do just that for another week or two.. then maybe march in for an infopass and demand things move along! Okay, I'll ask nicely : :help: innocent:

Hopefully that's not gonna be the case.

So hang in there guys, and Bullwinkle, I hope you get some more info out of them. Maybe they could even print you one of those biometrics letters, without a specific appointment time on it (read about something like that somewhere), so you could just do a walk-in.. (it's become quite obvious to me that their appointment scheduling system needs a lot of improving)

Fingers crossed!

07/23/2010 E-mails and text msgs received, NOA1 sent out

Hey Bullwinkle,

Please dont be discouraged. I know exactly how you feel. I dont know which was worst: waiting for the petition to be approved or this. The immigration process can be very stressful. But do you know who motivates me :My husband. I called USCIS almost everyday. I go to the uscis everyday. What brings me solice is vj. Please hang in there. Make sure when you call uscis that you have your call escalated. All the Best

Congrats!!

Thnxs 'LilMermaid! :D ......Yesterday i was sooo happy that finnaly i got my EAD in my hands..but today i had a terrible day at the SSN Office. I was there early in the morning becoz i knew the line are always brutal here in Fort Myers. Anyway, i was called, and i have everything in my hands to submit and apply for a new card. This Officer was such a Total Jerk!!!!!....keep reviewing my records which is fine. I handed him my application form ( I didnt sign it first becoz i want to sign it infront of him), my EAD and my Passport same goes with my son too as well. So everything is perfectly fine with my son, EXCEPT ME!...he said that he need to verify my name again in the USCIS, and he requested me to go to the postal office to add me as "new resident", or else the the SSN Card won't mailed directly to us and will goes straight to Baltimore Office and void it. What the Hell!!!!! :wow::devil: .... I dont even have my Interview yet but i am already interrogated with this jerk officer. But anyhow, i dont want to stress-out more. Me and my husband rather do what he requested for. We went ahead then to the Postal Office and apply as new Resident on the House where we resided (which i did since i came over here in USA..gosh!)....He said then, if there is no problem i can have the card in 20days more or less. But my son will be delivered nextweek i guess. My point is, i never heard such thing here in the forum whatever he did to me. Anyway, i dont want to add more stress with this whole process. Hope everythings fine. or maybe he had a bad day with his wife i guess LOL'......

ps: I DO REMEMBER HIS FACE AND MY HUSBAND IS MY WITNESS THERE TODAY AT THE SSN.I asked him too that i need to sign my Application form, he didnt let me to do that..he said that is fine. I handed him our birth certicate he replied me "NO NEED!".........i dunno what his problem. he is not smiling nor not even saying "goodmorning"....he is really so "AS IF"...grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Hey Bullwinkle, there's nothing specific i want you to ask them... but i definitly want you to tell me everything when you come back! good luck with the infopass appointment, hope to hear some good news!

Well, I'm back! My appt was at 9am.. I struggled thru stupid rush hour traffic to get there.. almost got rear ended by a truck, got lost twice.. but finally made it there right on time. Phew!

There were tons of people there, dressed up for their ceremony, for interviews, biometrics. I have to admit.. I had some huge envy! But I will be there one day too :)

The wait was short... I made it home by 10am and I live a good 30 miles away. The agent was kind and good humored. Here's the deal:

MY EAD WAS APPROVED!!! On September 2nd!!!! However, there is nothing I can do until I get my frickin' biometrics! Grrrrrr  I feel so tormented, but happy about the approval. She said that once I get my biometrics done, the EAD card will follow pretty much immediately. No idea how backed up the Dallas office is.. I just have to wait. They are closing down for a few days next week to put in a new system (hope it's better than their current one!) and that will cause further delays. She could absolutely give me no estimate. I asked about doing a walk in, or going to another location, another state... she said "no way!" they will just turn me back around.

As for my AOS - it won't get touched again until they are ready to interview me. They are still projecting a 4 month processing time from the date of receipt.

I asked about transfers to CSC and she said that only happens to those who file separately, not as an AOS packet. Or those who also filed an I-131 (I did not file for Advance Parole) Does that seem accurate???

So that's it in a nutshell... here's hoping STILL for a speedy biometrics appt. It felt good to be there tho, to meet with someone face to face and to get some answers.. even if it was all very vague.

At least I know where the office is now, and I found a better route on the way home! :)

I bet you're glad you did the infopass. That's great news that your EAD was approved. At least you dont have to worry about that. Too bad you have to wait for the biometrics. It's such a little thing but everything now for you hinges on getting that done. If you lived in another city it would not be an issue. Too bad. :( I live in Los Angeles and my ASC office was a ghost town, so maybe the majority of immigrants are going to Texas now? Probably because the economy there now is alot better than in California? Who knows.

It sounds like you wont be getting your interview appointment either until your biometrics is done. Alot of people on VJ ask if their case will continue to be processed if they havent done the biometrics yet. I think you folks in Dallas have answered that question for us. Your AP will be processed, but your EAD & GC is on hold until the biometrics is done. At least that's what it seems to me.

That's interesting what she said about how if you haven't applied for the AP you do not get transferred. I didn't apply for the AP either and I didn't get transfered, I have to do the interview. If I had known that I would have taken the extra time and applied for the AP, just for the purpose of getting transferred. Anyway, at least you now know what's going on. Thanks for letting us all know. :)

Hmm... If the AP thing was true, I think everybody would be applying for in, in an effort to escape the interview. Maybe your question caught her off guard and she just made up an answer, I don't want to think she actually thinks a little thing like that can have such an influence on the AOS process.

Another thing: I've read about people doing walk-ins to a less busy ASC, or even in a different state (not even a neighboring one!). They weren't turned down, maybe they just had to plead their case a little bit. The data base is the same, your receipt number is unique, so I don't see the problem with it.

Of course, she couldn't have admitted that, just one of those things that aren't suppose to be happening, but they close their eyes to.

New system doesn't sound very good, probably my ASC is doing the same thing. It just means all the employees are gonna have to find their way around with new clicks and situations, and it's gonna be chaos for a while. Hope I'm wrong, and they really are professionals, not just bureaucrats

We're all around that mark of 8.5 weeks, so hopefully our bio's will be scheduled any day now

Thanks for posting your experience, and I guess.. Congrats for having the EAD approved Even if... you know...

I got the impression that the agent did not mean that EVERY case filed with AP is automatically transferred to CSC. Obviously, if they see reason for an interview, they will keep you at the local office vs. transferring you out. So for those who filed AP along with their packet it does not guarantee an automatic transfer. I think what she was getting at was that those packets filed with AP that looked good to go are transferred out. Does that make sense? After hearing that tho, I do wish that I had filed AP to BETTER my chances of quicker processing/transfer. At the time, I figured I would just wait it out and travel once everything is said and done. Now I'm not sure if I will make it home for Christmas, at the rate things are going... :(

Anyway.... I'm pondering the idea of heading to another state to see if I can't do a walk in. I think I will call USCIS again tomorrow for a 2nd service request and see what happens. Worse case scenario if I try to walk in is that they will say "no"... right?

I think the Dallas office is super busy because the reality is that there is a huge number of immigrants here... as my lovely husband says "of course it's backed up... look at all of the Mexicans here!" Oh boy.. bless his sweet redneck heart :bonk:

First of all, you'll make it home for Christmas, I'm sure of it. Interview letters are already popping-up, and even if we get delayed by another month, we should still have ours by November, first half of December at the most.

Because really, the worst I can see happening is they're gonna make us wait the full 90 days for the EAD, and when we're out of processing times, then they'll have no choice but to move things along. That's what I saw happened to Kimbear, but she did put in the SR much later... so hopefully that won't be the case for us.

As for your walk-in plans, you can't do it without the appointment letter, or more like the receipt number on it. Which means one has to be issued to you. But I'm sure that if you're willing to take a longer drive to a different ASC, or even to a neighboring state (don't be thinking about AZ now ).. you'll walk right in. Do a little research, find out where they're not busy. From what I see, Wednesday's are the best days to do that.

Hopefully the second SR will be a red flag for them, and remind them you're still out there.. waiting.. But you'll have to call on Monday, as far as I know they're closed for the weekend :)

07/19/2010 AOS received by Chicago Lockbox
07/23/2010 E-mails and text msgs received, NOA1 sent out
07/26/2010 Checks cleared, Touches on all 3 app(I-131, I-485, I-765)
07/30/2010 NOA1 received in mail

08/30/2010 Put in a service request for biometrics ( used receipt number for I-485)
09/03/2010 Touch on I-765
09/07/2010 Touch on I-765
09/07/2010 E-mail about service request - everything suspended awaiting biometrics
09/16/2010 Called 800 number again, had my call escalated to a IO. Confirmation that biometrics appointment is still not yet scheduled. Advised to wait a little bit more.
09/23/2010 Called 800 number some more. Biometrics appointment being updated in the system as we were speaking. (NOT!)
09/30/2010 Infopass. EAD approved on 09/03! Nice IO printed out an appointment letter for biometrics, did the walk-in, Card Production Ordered.
10/05/2010 Second card production ordered ( date they actually mailed the EAD out)
10/07/2010 Touch on I-765
10/09/2010 Received EAD card in the mail (sent on 10/05)
