Su and I are back from our AOS interview. Yay!!! Approved. The interview was scheduled for 11:10 AM, and we were called about 10 minutes late. He swore us in, and started in with the questions:

Just some generic questions (what's your name, what's your husband's name, are you a terrorist etc). Then he started to ask more personal questions; why did you marry this man, when did you know you want to marry, how did you propose, what do you do for hobbies, under what circumstances did you meet, do you ever intend to go back to Thailand, did you marry for a greencard only. The questions weren't too difficult, but the whole process is a little nerve wracking.

He asked us for any additional documents, and we showed him pictures, bills, insurance papers etc. Then told us we're approved for a 2 year conditional greencard. He then explained what we have to do in order to lift the conditions. He didn't stamp Su's passport, and I completely forgot to ask about it. He did remove the I-94 from her though. Now we're just waiting for the card in the mail which should arrive in about a week. Done with the USCIS until we file I-751 on 6/17/2012.

It wasn't a terrible experience, but the interview seemed a bit intense. The questions kept coming and coming. After the interview the officer seemed a little more friendly, which put us at ease also.

Good luck to everyone who have interviews coming up.

Thanks a lot for the review.. I'm a little freaked out now cos we'll be at the Seattle branch as well but I guess if your intentions are good and they realize you're honestly in love, you shouldn't be worried..

Thanks again and congrats!

oh one more thing - did they ask you separately or both together, at the same time, same booth?

Well, no EAD or AP here but....

Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production

On September 15, 2010, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

I guess I'll get my green card before the EAD. I won't complain.

I was transfered to CSC, so that should give some hope to the people who are expecting long delay.

I file I-485 with no I-94 so I was very anxious. That's a big relief. Phew. :)

Last significant immigration event:

ROC: Approved : 04/17/2013

We were all in the same office when the questioning began. Just try to act natural and be calm. Make sure to have your documents in order, and if your SO isn't comfortable with english it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a translator. Su is pretty good at english, but she stumbled on a few questions. I was sweating bullets when she had to keep asking him to repeat himself. But, in the end, it turned out well.

heheh I suppose I'm orderly by birth anyway ;) Just seems like the AOS interview is tougher than the K-1 (surprisingly, to me at least)

Well, thanks for the insight!

Big Congrats on your approval! I think you are the first of the July filers :)

I can't wait for that day to come for me.... I'm even looking forward to an interview! My only "concern" is that my husband is totally disorganized and HORRIBLE with details! He has forgotten my birthdate, age since day one... he doesn't even have my cell phone number memorized because "baby, i have it programmed in my phone.. I don't need to memorize it". Grrrrr... men sometimes! LOL :bonk::blink:

Congratulations!! It sounds a little like the interview is designed to try to detect fraud by trying to get you to trip-up, then once they catch an inconsistency they pounce on that. But when your relationship is legitimate all you have to do is answer the questions and you're fine. In other words, if your not guilty of anything you should have nothing to worry about. Probably most people they interview are legitimate, but every now and then they catch someone. It's a numbers game. Anyway, Congratulations again. :D
