Crossing fingers for everyone's biometrics letters!! Ugh, first having packages sent back, now no bio letters :(

Good news from us: David passed his computer test to get a learning permit to drive!

They (Virginia DMV at Alexandria) didn't have a problem with showing the I-94 (expires 09/08) and the i-797c (my PermRes NOA1). Apparently they did have a problem with our lease that has both of our names on it to prove residency  something about how because it's an individual owner who has a property manager leasing the place...but we got a manager who said it was fine.

Unfortunately, their computer system was down so we didn't get the card, but hopefully it should just be a walk-in-and-get-it since he's done with the test. And then I have to teach him how to drive :bonk: I swore that I would be better than my folks who taught me to drive and scared me half to death making me think I was going to crash at any moment :P

Wait, you can get a learners permit with the NOA1 for AOS? I already passed the written test but my permit expired last week along with my I-94.

Cool Justine and David!!! We are not far from each other at all. I actually live in Fort Washington, Md (next exit after Fort Washington is Alexandria. Less then 10 minutes away from AMC Hoffman Theatre) But the funny thing is that how can the ASC in Alexandria (according to my zip code thats the nearest office to me)have no available slots for fingerprinting especially if they do walk-ins. I just dont understand. When I called USCIS,they said that my husband is in que to be scheduled for an appointment. And the most devestating part is that we are moving next week friday. NO touches, NO updates, absolutely NOTHING :devil::devil:. Upon all that I went through with the K1 visa process, now this!!! Im not checking the uscis website anymore. Im so discouraged.

They say if your visa is less than 6 months of stay in the USA (Like a K-1, which is the one i'm adjusting the status from), you can't have a Texas DL. I'd need any kind of visa that is good for like a year. K-1 can't get a Texas DL.. :(

I can't get a DL in Florida until I get my green card. They won't accept just my EAD (when I get it) and SSN as my primary ID (my passport) is in my maiden name. They changed their rules in January. Now a lot of US citizens have to jump through a million hoops before they can renew their license... lots of controversy over it.

I heard about the new regulations - one thing you can do is get an ID card first (depending on state very easy with passport, marriage cert., SSN, NOAs) and that's definitely primary evidence of residency.

Ugh, I don't like weekends anymore...no working on the visa! Plus Monday is Labor Day, so nothing that day either.

Our wedding is coming up! Getting a little nervous...big white dress with everyone staring at me (and the hubby too!) I was trying on the dress yesterday to make sure it still fit (I bought it last year) with the veil and shoes :)

Not in Florida. You need the exact same things as with getting a DL. Sucks! I can't go to Disney or Universal as a FL resident! lol
