I'm more of a 10times a day kind of person  Since the only thing i do these days while hubby is at work is studying for my Board exams, I entertain myself with facebook, VJ and my online case status! How fun!!!

OMG .. hilarious! I'm the same... hubby is at work and I sit around on FB, VJ, USCIS about 5x daily to check my status, school and studying for my State Licensure test.. as soon as I get my SSN I can take my tests! Two peas in a pod, we are..

BTW - Does our case sit in Chicago once it's been received? Or does it go to the Dallas office after? I guess I'm a bit unclear as to how the case travels, processing procedures, etc...

The Chicago Lockbox facility accepts all of the AOS cases (based on your residential jurisdiction). Once they receive the case, they review it and assign us case numbers. If they think some information provided by us is incorrect or the forms are wrong, they send the complete package back or issue a RFE (depending upon the nature of the issue).

However, everything looks okay after the initial review, if they feel you need an interview (for various reasons they might think), your case is transferred to the National Benefits Center in MO and from there, it is forwarded to your local CIS office.

On the other hand, if they feel you don't need an interview, your case is forwarded to CSC (Transfer to CSC does not 100% guarantee that you don't need an interview, if they feel you do, they will transfer your case to the local CIS office).

I hope this helps!

During my K1 journey, I never got a single touch so I'm not really checking the USCIS site.

To my understanding, Touches mean everything and nothing at the same time so...

Though I must admit USCIS site is kinda "friendly", they should add a chat. :P

Like a IRC channel on the "Check my status" page...

Ok, I check once a day but not more. :hehe:

Initially I wasn't checking because I signed-up for My Status Online the day I got my hardcopy NOA1. Then I noticed that the "Last Update" date got changed ( I am assuming thats what we call 'touch') a couple times and I never got any kind of email or text notification. Does anyone else have this issue of not getting notifications?

All that means is that somebody scanned your file for whatever reason. They won't tell you why they scanned it in, only for big stuff like RFEs, transfers, interview appointments, approval, etc etc.

At least you got it before the appointment. You wouldn't want to be held up for missing the biometrics paper!

There obviously was a "bump" in their mail. I remember reading that the biometrics should be sent at least 2 weeks before the appointment.

Oh well, at least you have it in time. :)

Attended my biometrics appointment on Wednesday at Kansas City. It went without any problems.

Although we were almost an hour early (appointment was at 11, we got there around 10:10) they still waved us in and let us join the queue. The security process was simple, and the guard very friendly and polite. We were handed a ticket number and a form to complete whilst we waited for our number to be called. They were already calling number 16 when we arrived, and ours was number 18. We waited about 10 minutes at most and were called in.

The form was pretty simple - name, date of birth, address, alien number. There were also some questions about height, weight, eye color and hair color. Nothing too scary - after all the immigration forms we've filled in already, this was pretty tame.

We were called through and asked to take a seat whilst the officer took our form. They were fine about allowing my husband to come in with me. The guard entered the information we had entered on our form, and then asked us to verify he had entered all the information correctly, then he took my fingerprints and my photograph. He was very friendly and polite throughout.

One thing that was strange - I took my marriage license with me, because I am applying in my married name and my passport is still in my maiden name, but he didn't ask me for any proof of marriage. I was worried that he had overlooked asking me to show the license, so I asked him about it and he said there was no need. I was a bit surprised about that.

Anyways though, he stamped my appointment letter, handed me it and my passport back, asked us to complete a customer satisfaction survey and then said we were good to leave. We were only in the office a total of 30 minutes.

Now on to the next stage!
