After reading through the CSC cases, I have a hypothesis of what may have happened....

When I did the averages for the February filers, they either all seemed to be in the 30-40 day range to be adjudicated OR in the 140+ day range. Hardly any variation. Then I noticed that someone had written that they got an update on their February case saying that they got a USCIS notice that their case was transferred (different from the original e-mail notice about the USCIS deciding to go to CSC) and then a few days later got the green card.

The first e-mail likely means that the decision was made to transfer the case.

The second e-mail likely means that the case has physically been transferred and has arrived at the CSC.

If those poor February filers didn't get that second e-mail, I'm guessing that for 4-5 months, the case was sitting in the Chicago Lockbox, never having been transferred physically to the CSC.

Hence, if you get that 2nd e-mail about a week later or so, that means you probably have a very good chance of your petition being adjudicated within the normal processing time...

Updates for the timeline averages from notice of transfer to the decision date:

February-80 days (however, the dates range from 30-50 days, abrupt gap, and then 140+ days)

March-62 days

April-42 days

May-55 days

June-52 days (not likely to be very accurate yet since only 7 people have reported decision dates-still early in the game)

Looks like we might hear in late September/early October depending on how things go...

Naturalization

9/9: Mailed N-400 package off

9/11: Arrived at Dallas, TX

10/9: Received Biometrics letter

10/29: Biometrics

The first e-mail likely means that the decision was made to transfer the case.

The second e-mail likely means that the case has physically been transferred and has arrived at the CSC.

Thanks for the research!

I think your theory is correct because I recall reading a post the other day from someone who only got the second email regarding the CSC transfer (the one we got just a couple of days ago) months after they got their initial notification that their case was going to CSC! For me, so far, the process has been quite quick so I'm hopeful it will be all sorted by the end of September. I could really do with my EAD within the next 4 weeks though because I have a job offer.

Still nervous about RFEs.

Justine+David: Thanks for that research, it's helpful! I thought it was always longer when the case was transfered, but looks like not. I hope i'll get transfered too then, i don't want an interview, but knowing my luck.....

No biometrics letter for me either..

I would have panicked, but I see others are in the same situation, so hopefully, we'll all get it before the 30 days are up, and we have to start causing trouble

One thing I'm worried about.. I read a couple of posts where people got their NOA1 just fine, but then their biometrics letters, or their EAD cards, or even GC got return by USPS as "undeliverable". Didn't quite figure out the reason, but the solution seemed to be to update their address with USCIS with their P.O. Box numbers. Delays delays... I'm starting to think that might be my case. My physical address doesn't always show up in USPS data base..

Any similarities?

Let's hope they're just really busy, and that Santa Mailman brings me a present today.. :innocent:

Just got my appointment letter for biometrics today! I'm scheduled to go in September 7th at 2:00pm, exactly two hours before my good friend from Ottawa lands here in ATX to visit for a week... I love you too, irony!

The letter is dated August 11th, while the envelope is dated August 12th--here's to hoping people start getting their letters soon too. Oh, and (of course) my case via the USCIS site isn't updated....

p.s. It states the appt. is for my AOS and EAD... Does the AP just get issued on its own/no biometric involvement at all? Just curious.

For sure! All of our dates for the AOS stuff are so similar, I wouldn't be surprised if you got something soon (barring any retardation on their front).

I'm only a bit irked that it conflicts with my having to be @ the airport to pick my friend up on that day... wondering if I shouldn't do a walk in @ the place before hand? Any opinions from peeps?

Still no bio letter for me :( I hope that when I get home tonight there will be something. I've had to tape the mailbox shut because it drops directly into the house and my pups have a tendency to eat the mail LOL!

I sat next to an immigration officer in chicago the other week and he told me that sometimes doing an early walk in actually delays the process! dunno whether or not to believe that? i say press your luck!
