I sent out my AOS package the same day from Missouri and keep checking the USPS tracking website. It has said 'en route to destination' for the past week! I'm getting slightly concerned. Especially since we used a cashiers check meaning the money is already out of our account.

Finally!!! The package was delivered July 27,2010.I was so worried because I had a money order. I cant believe that USPS just update there website today. Thats crazy. I dont think I will ever use their services again. They are very unreliable!!!

My USPS.com account just finally said that the item was delivered on 7/28/10! Yeah! Finally at the post office. I think I was correct that USPS.com just doesn't "update" like I would expect a tracking service to update. Okay, now the wait for the emails begins! Then the NOA1. I don't expect it until next Wednesday, Aug. 4 but I definitely have great expectations!

Hello lilavioletiris

I checked usps.com this afternoon and my package too was updated as delivered. But how can usps update their status 3 days later when the package was delivered. That doesnt make any sense!

Check USPS.com tracking now. Mine finally updated as delivered!

As you can see, USPS isn't reliable when it comes to updates

well... I am in Chicago for the weekend. When I was in the taxi headed to the hotel, I passed by Dearborn Street. I got butterflies in my stomach thinking "that's where my packet is!". LOL!

Anyway, I just got back from a delicious dinner where I sat at the bar... next to an immigration officer! I laughed and told him I was going thru the immigration process right now. We were rattling off file numbers and talking shop.. lol.

Long story short, he made me feel even more confident that everything I did was in order, and he told me "you won't have any problems". He also mentioned that processing times are very quick these days (3-4 months) and that I should get my EAD very soon. He said that since I filed in July, the latest my interview will be is probably November. I asked him if I go for a walk in biometrics, would it speed up the process? He suggested just going for the assigned appt date and sometimes going for a walk in can actually delay everything! That was news to me! He was really cool and down to earth and I really appreciated his conversation. He also gave me info about the citizenship process, etc..

At the end, he gave me his number (no! he was not flirting!) in case I run into any problems and mentioned that he has friends who work at my local office.. I thought that was really cool :star:

That is really quite cool.

I guess I tend to imagine these immigration officers as being stern old men that don't have a heart or care about their job and what it means to those who have to actually go through the whole immigration process. And whilst I am sure that there are some (like in any job) that may feel that way, it's nice to be reminded that there are those out there who are decent and helpful.

A likely interview by November though...

That sounds pretty good to me. I can celebrate Christmas without that hanging over my head, and then buy the plane tickets to visit my brother in England for his wedding when the new year comes. My husband and I were just talking recently about how much things still feel in limbo whilst we wait for this next stage of the immigration process to be done with.

I had said to him "Wow! You are one of the nicest immigration officers I have ever come across... what's up with the rough and gruff attitude you guys usually have? Sometimes I say hello, how are you to the officers and you would think I'd just said something terribly offensive!" He laughed and said that it all depends on who you deal with.. yes there are some guys who are like that. He told me that he was raised to always have compassion and recognize that each applicant is a human being, with feelings and to always treat them as such. I thought that was nice :)

Although I've read lots of horror stories which give the impression that that is what ALL immigration officers are like, I guess that the truth is that in my own experiences with immigration so far, I've actually found people to be friendly. When I went for my visa interview in London, I expected to deal with some harsh and mean official, but instead I got a kindly gentleman who seemed genuinely pleased to be able to say "you're approved!"
