My package was signed by R Mercardo at 10:55pm on a Sunday. It freaked me out a little bit too :bonk:

Now I'm doing my best not to post anxiety about getting the biometrics in lieu of the fact that we will be in Seattle and Hawaii for most of the month of September...thankfully our local office does walk-ins, so we should get the notice at least by September 8th...but yes, anxiously checking the mailbox every day

They seem to be coming fairly quickly right now, except maybe the ones that get transferred to CSC. I don't know whats going on over there...seems to be hit and miss. Some people are waiting extremely long times and some are flying through. I would think you'd get your biometrics scheduled for august...possibly september but you should have the actual letter in hand early enough to do a walk in. You're lucky your office does them. Some of them are getting flat out refused no matter what the reason. I haven't checked if my local office does them or not yet but I'll probably give it a shot regardless just to get it over with.

DOH, I put my husband's birth date as October ##, 2010. Uh, yeah, he isn't born yet. Guess he doesn't need to pay the biometrics fee, lol. So I fixed that on the form I-485 and on the I-765 and mailed off the package again with a check in my married name. I still can't believe on 2 of the 3 forms I put the wrong birth date. Thanks for the suggestion, because I almost just sent it back with out checking any of the forms and just making the check out signed in my married name which I thought was the issue (since the form letter is so vague that it really isn't useful to find the real problem). Mailed off the package again today so hopefully the NOA will still be in July.

Looks like my husband will likely get his work permit around his birthday and almost a year to the date from when we mailed in our K-1 and received its NOA1.

Glad it helped and even better that its back on its way immediately.

Good luck. :)

Mine was signed for by someone different both times. Did you get an email or txt msg yet? If not you should anytime.

Edit: My bad...I read your timeline as received on the 19th instead of sent. Yours actually got there the same day as mine did. We may get a txt tomorrow. Hard to say. I'll let you know if I get anything but I'm sure you'll be walking around all day obsessively checking your phone (Like me) so you'll know anyways. LOL

I cannot wait to work either!!! I think that is a big thing for so many of us.. to be able to get back into the game and feel a part of something. Luckily for me, I've been in school so I'm busy with that. But it's difficult to see my dwindling bank account, especially when I've always been so used to having a steady income. It's amazing how quickly money disappears when you are not working. I can't wait to have a part time job along with continuing with my studies. Employment is definitely a very important factor for keeping up self esteem, confidence, accomplishment, socializing (especially in a new country/city) and general overall good feelings. Bless my husband for all the support he offers, not only financially... but it's important for all of us to contribute something to the household as well (for me, anyway). Not to mention, once I'm done with my studies I will of course, want to seek employment in my new career field! I also need my SS# to take my State Licensure tests!

Since you had to resend yours, can you let me know if your MSC numbers are the same the second time as they were the first time you submitted them. I figured it would be nice to check my USCIS portfolio now that I have all the MSC numbers even if I had to return everything for the wrong birth date on 2 forms. Still can't believe I made that mistake!

You should be able to go apply for your social security number as long as you have more than 2 weeks left on your I-94. My husband applied for his last Friday and we went in yesterday to get a letter with the number on it (the card will be coming in the next couple of weeks). It was a pretty painless except the man yesterday was like "Who told you could come back to get a letter with your number on it?" but we said it was something to take to get my husband's driver's license and the man finally printed out a sheet of paper with "the important number and appropriate words on it".

Yeah I'm kinda curious to see if they are the same numbers as well. I think they'll be different but we'll see.

Really? I went in to get my SS# a bit ago and the lady there was a really pain in the #######! She was saying how I am not eligible and blah blah blah....

I had called the State board and they said that I can go into the SS office, apply for a number, get a rejection letter and bring that in to take my State Licensure test. Well... I told the lady at the SS office that and she nearly lost her mind saying that was wrong information and she can't just generate numbers and letters like that..

anyway... she ran it and I got a rejection letter. I was going to use it to take my test, but I think I would prefer to wait now, get my SS number and do it all properly.

Hrmph! silly lady at the Social Security office..

You didn't come in on a K-1 visa did you? K-1's are allowed a SSN even though they cannot work without the EAD.

Edit: yeah I just checked your profile...your adjusting from an F-1 visa...totally different.
