We got a rejection letter because our "check amount is incorrect or has not been provided"

I made the check out to "U.S. Department of Homeland Security" for 1010.00 and then wrote "One thousand ten dollars and 00/100 ------". The check has "Carla MaidenName" at the top and then I signed "Carla MarriedName" at the end. What is wrong with the amount? Or it just that the check was in my maiden name and I signed in my married name?

What about the check of $355.00 for I-130 form, did you include that in there too?

Did they send the whole package back? I sent mine the day after yours and expecting mine back too as I had used outdated I-485. Wondering when will it come.

I-130 is not necessary for K-1 people! I know I didn't send it for AOS and I was accepted.

no 355$ needed.. I don't know what happened to you lilacvioletiris, i'm really sorry about that! My husband wrote a check with the wrong adress on the top left of it, with both his name and his grandma's name. And they still accepted it. (even if they said the adress needs to be the right one hehe). And talking about the "legal" signature, they can't know what's your legal signature, how can they refuse a check for that reason, come one!! USCIS can be so demanding sometimes. Hope next time you send it, it will b alright!

I got the hardcopy for the 3 applications! Woohoooo!

Got my AOS for EAD/AOS in the mail today! I got double copies for some reason? And my husband got NOA for I-130 as he is the petitioner.

Yes, they send the whole package back. Stapled together in piles with no semblance of the order I sent them in.

We are going to our credit union tomorrow morning to pick up our checks with my married name on it and my husband's name on it. I will write "One Thousand Ten and 00/100" for the words and sign my married name. I don't need to pay an extra fee for because the I-485, I-131 (work permit), and I-765 (advanced parole) only cost $1010 when filed together.

Just seems like such a waste of the government's money to send back a check that for all practical purposes would have been cashable but didn't "exactly" meet the USCIS's specifications.

I think they didn't like the fact that the check was for Carla MaidenName and I signed Carla MarriedName. That is all I can figure out. Either that or the dollars written in the middle of the money line, but come on that doesn't even really matter. So what if dollars is written twice! But it was rejected just the same.

My check that I sent in was not a personalized check. I have an address stamp so I stamped it with my (U.S) address and wrote my name in the corner. I signed the check using my maiden name, since that is the name on the account. It may have been an issue to USCIS that the name on the check, the name in the signature and the name on the account did not match.. even tho they, and we all know that you are one in the same person. With banking and identity tho, everyone is super careful these days.

I also wrote out the words "One thousand and ten dollars exactly" on the amount line.

I hope the second time around is better!!!

@AandB You should check if you can have some agency in Canada print you an international license for over here. I know back in Europe they do that, and here AAA takes care of that. Too bad I only had a US license

Anyways, I think I am with y'all in the slow pile. Haven't received by biometrics letter yet. My NOA1 was dated July 9th..... Biting nails....Hopefully I get it Monday or Tuesday, so I can attempt a walk-in on Wednesday.....

So far no other news... I'm already anxious waiting and it's just the beginning!

I'm very happy to squeeze into the July filers! My K1 runs out today and the package will be arriving tomorrow. Phew! I'm sure it doesn't matter too much since my I-94 has plenty of time left on it, but it's still a huge weight off my mind. Loving life in the USA, except unemployment!

Sorry that your AOS package was sent back.To save some trouble, why do you send the a money order. I sent them a money order for 1010.00 dollars (actually their is a money order for 2 500.00 and a seperate one for 10 dollars.) Im getting scared now. I hope that wont be a problem.

I hope that was the problem....someone else had said that their's was returned and it stated that the reason was the check. They couldn't find a thing wrong with the check but did notice that their DOB was entered incorrectly. Crazy.

Check your DOB on all the 3 forms. I had made a mistake and mentioned the year of birth as 2010. THat made my check amount incorrect cause it makes my age <14 and I didnt have to enclose the biometrics fees in that case.
