Hello, I tried to find this answer on the forums befor posting this but was not able to , i am putting my K-1 package togeather for my Girlfriend in Brazil. My question is I am Half Chilean and speak , read and write spanish and I got lucky because my girlfriend/ fiance does also speak , read and write spanish.My question is do i have to have all of our emails, and chat sessions and love letters that are being submitted translated into english?.. I would assume yes? and if so can you just get anyone to do it ?or does it have to be a selected translator?..

O yea with technology by your side nowadays simply just go to google translate scan ur letters or simply copy and paste into the translate wizard and print,it not only translates it can also detect the language,wonderful isn't it?let me know how you get along.http://translate.google.com/#

E-mails, love letters, chat transcripts are NOT required for the initial I-129F submission but are optional evidence... most people do NOT include this type of information because of the translation requirement.

I don't think using Google Translate is the best option here. It translates word by word, some sentences don't make sense anymore after using translation with Google.

If you want to frontload your petition with evidence of ongoing relationship and add translated conversations, you should find someone who does it well. IMO, the translation should be done by a certified translator and notarized. TMRYAN750, it looks like you are the USC. There has to be someone certified you can find in the US who will be able and allowed to translate and notarize it.

My I-129F was submitted with evidence of relationship.. the translation process may be necessary when you present all your information and evidence of relationship to the embassy in Rio.

Thanks to all for the input I think I will find a certified translator and have it notorized just to front loasd my package rather include more than less, i will post as soon as the package goes out and let everyone know how its moveing along, just waiting on my girls pictures to arrive in the mail once those get here the package goes out

Agreed, Online translators are very poor substitutes. "I want to hold you in my arms" could turn out as "I want to load you in my weapons".

Evidence of relationship is not needed for the petition.

There is no such thing, per se, as a "certified translator". At least not on any recognized basis. Alla translates and interprets for USCIS and CBP among others and has been tested and has a "certificate" from a translation agency that the government uses to test translators, but it has no legal authority. She meets the requirements of her particular client, that is all. Of course she can show this to others as a testimony of her ability, but it is not a legal document. She could just as well show you her report card from college.

Anyone can translate for these documents, even yourself. You must provide your own certification that the document is true and correct. Notaries are not needed and in NO WAY verify the correctness of the document, they only witness a signature. There are some very few consulate specific requirements for notaries, USCIS has none and a notarization is of no value at all.
