After AOS Approval--Social Security Card

Hello!

My husband and I had our AOS interview late June and we were approved right away. When we were at the interview, the USCIS representative took my EAD card and told me I didn't need it because I would receive my green card in the mail soon. I got notification that a green card was in production.

My question is for anyone who went to get their social security card at their local office. I am eager to speed the process up, I'm looking for work and would like to be able to accept an offer if one happens to come my way. We are in a tough financial situation and I'm getting impatient with waiting for things to come in the mail.

Is their a possibility of getting my social security number and card by applying now using a notice of action or other document, while my green card is still processing or do I have to wait until I have it and can bring it in to the SSO for verification.

I would have gone in to the office with my EAD card, if It hadn't gotten taken away by USCIS. I've tried calling both USCIS and Social security hotlines and spoke with representatives who were of no help.

any input would be great. I might just be getting a bit antsy, but I have read that it can take weeks for the Social security card to be sent as well.

thanks
